Im going to transfer my 7900gs 256mb video card, and I'm wondering if it will run a 24'' and a 22'' dual monitors. Not worried about gaming, this is a workstation for my graphic work. Nadril
Yes the 7900GS should work fine for dual monitors like that.
OldJoe
Why 1000w PSU? Have you something extra planned for it? GTX 260 and 280 have already dropped in price, they won't drop much further in price. The motherboard, have you planned on running SLI? To be honest, i would not invest in it. Especially if you plan on buying a 280. I would buy a 4870x2, will be cheaper than two 280's. Otherwise it looks nice. Your 7900gs will run two screens if it has two outputs and supports the monitor-resolution. I prefer the 280's over ATI. The way the 280's work when they are not being used by video games and such is what attracts me.

I'm not from the U.S, so i don't check newegg much. Where i live, gtx 280 was introduced at 480 - 620 euros. The cheapest i found now was at 360 euros, so they've dropped much as you see. Well, i suppose if you have the money and think it's worth putting so much cash into it, go for it. I guess, if you buy a 280 in a month or something, and then buy one at x-mas or something, they won't be as expensive as now. I'm buying an ATI 4850 this month (with a new computer), will be enough for me hehe. Good luck. WutangFlu
im probably going to wait 6-12 months before picking up a 280. (or even looking at it for that matter) Im in no rush for getting a more powerful card right now, but i set my system up for expandability. OldJoe
Ah ok, i understand. I know that both ATI and Nvidia are working on the next cards. But no date is known, so if you're thinking of 6-12months, more information about the new gpu's will probably be known. Or the 280's will be even cheaper! =) Have fun and give the quad-core to me for replying three times lol. dsavi
Just a question, I thought there were a lot of compatibility issues with 64 bit Windows?
Errdoth
Just a question, I thought there were a lot of compatibility issues with 64 bit Windows? I'm running x64 Vista, and I've had none. I might've just been lucky or something, but it works fine with everything (especially my 8gb of ram :P) Last.fm Signature Overlays
Sbrideau
XP 64bit has real lots of compatility issues since it's been designed for businesses. Vista 64bit has no compatibility issues since it's been designed for personnal use, there's a difference.
dsavi
Is there some 32-bit compatibility layer, then?
sloter
I think there is some special folder in vista x64 don't know never personally used it.
