August 31, 200817 yr The film grossed an underachieving $2.2 million on its opening day, ranking #5 at the box office. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disaster_movie \ \ \ \ \ that's $2.2 million more than it costed to make the "movie" :wall: The $2.2M may be more than the negative cost but you still have to take promotion and distribution into consideration. Plus, the fact that it took less than 20% of its expected first week gross will surely put any studio off producing another one of these terrible films. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
September 1, 200817 yr They seemed pretty optimistic wanting to hit 17mil... hopefully this is the kick in the balls they need to stop making them.
September 3, 200817 yr I bet they make these movies because young ( max 13 ) people laugh at their corniness. ^ my book :^_^: I don't play anymore, but I'm grateful I played through the best RS times!
September 4, 200817 yr Meet the spartans has to be the stupidest movie I've ever seen, and disaster movie has to be the stupidest move I ever won't see.
September 5, 200817 yr These movies are just an attempt to milk the success of big-name films even more. They release this kind of trash because they know that stupid people will continue to go and see them as long as they have toilet humor and celebrity jokes in them.

On its debut in United States theatres, Disaster Movie grossed $2 million on its opening day, $5.8 million over the three-day weekend and $6.9 million over the four-day weekend (including Labor Day).[8] It ranked #7 for both the three- and four-day weekends. The film's takings for the weekend fell far short of the $17 million predicted by the Dallas Morning News[9] and well below the film's $25 million budget. So... they're still 18 million in the red...... LOL. That's what they get for making such a stupid movie.
