Huh? Installing a router? A router is a network component that should not require specific drivers except those used by the network card.

The BT voyager needs the installation disk. And he might have to re-configure it, but other than that, it should be fine. Righto', opening the setup off a disk... Are you just waiting for the auto-run to do it automatically or are you manualy going into 'My computer' and opening it?

dont u just plug them in and if they need aditional files a popup will come up with installing new hardware?

Correct. It depends what type of router you'rre using. At home I've got the Linksys wireless-B router and my friend uses a Dlink. I've never came across a router that needed some type of installation. I had to register mine that was about it. Are you getting the two features mixed up?

The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard.

i have the linksys router, and when i go to "safely remove hardware" it shows it in there, and i go to my network connections and go to configure for the router, it doesnt do anything. btw i am going to my computer> D:> then directly setup[Caution: ExecutableFile] and it doesnt do anything  ive had to install before, and then it like made its own network connection or something..?

All i can suggest is in the Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer*shudders* type in the toolbar '192.168.1.0', i THINK that's the address for any router. Have a look to see if the Setup's in there. I may be wrong, but it's just a suggestion.

Anyone, please scrap my idea if it's rubbish/incorrect.

It would help if you could give us the make and model so we can give you more specific instructions.

From my experience, Linksys routers can be accessed at the IP 192.168.1.1 (type that in IE or FireFox). It should ask for a username and password, the manual should have the default username and password. You should be able to configure it now.

If it is a wireless router, you *must* to do the inital setup wired.

Change the frequency used by the router.

Uh, you have that backwards. IEEE 802.11b/g (wireless b/g) routers use the 2.4Ghz band. Any cordless phones in that band may cause interference. I've never seen a 2GHz phone, I've only seen 2.4GHz phones.

It's likely that the 2.4Ghz phones are causing interference, but not at all likely that a 900MHz phone will do that. It's not even CLOSE to being in the same band!
