Ok, up until today my computer could run DVD's just fine...Games on DVD's I mean, and any DVD's for that matter. But today there came a message when I booted up and it said something about drivers, and I didn't really read it, but it said press F1 to continue, so I just did it because I had just got up, so I didn't really care. So anyways, now my computer won't read any sort of DVD's, it makes as if they aren't in the drive. CD's work fine, but nothing on DVD's works. I tried all morning to fix it, I even formatted my computer, but still nothing works. Can someone please help me????

Is the disk scratched? If it is, might to such a bad one that can't read the disk.

It doesn't look like it. There's a littel line across it, but it does not appear to be a scratch. Plus I haven't had it out of my computer since it has last worked. Unless it somehow scratched itself.

Did you use Cheats? There was a rumour which I believe is true that if you use like 1000 cheats or something the disc automatically destroys it's data I bought 2 and both had same problems 3 of my friend had same problem and 1 friend of a friend had same problem.

No, I didn't cheat. I'm updating the the original post as I've pinpointed the problem now.

Is your DVD drive even listed in My Computer ? The message you mention seems to have come from the BIOS, which means hardware problem. Might have to open it up and check connections if that's the case. If it shows up in My Computer, then that's something else.

Yea, it shows up. It says "DVD-RW Drive (E:)" just like it should. Except that when there's a disc in, it says the same.

Here's an easy way to fix a driver-related problem (assuming that's your problem). (I'm assuming you're on win xp but other win oses are very similar). Go to control panel, system, hardware tab, device manager, expand the dvd/cd category, select the drive that's having problems, right click and click uninstall. Reboot your computer and windows will autodetect the drive and install the drivers fresh. See if that helps.
