How does a picture become a white box with a red x on it? For example, on some blogs/guides with alot of pictures, some pictures stop working. Why?

apparently random. Maybe a specific type of image is unreadable on a computer, or may take up a lot of space to see it. Idk, not good with comps.

I know that in my county any kind of XXX(adult) metarial is filtered out, so alot of pictures make as you say(white box with red x) and im guessing this is because the picture may have some kind of code that might be mistaken for XXX meterial... im not sure about this though, and this might not even apply to your country...

It just means that there is a problem loading the image. Reasons could be:

 

-Image is not there.

 

-Image is corrupted or "torn."

 

-You have a virus scanner or pop up blocker that just owned the image.

 

-Its too big or takes too much memory to load. (Sometimes, after you wait awhile, the image loads)

 

-You ran out of RAM to load the image.

uhm most often it's reason 1 (which just means the link to the image is 'broken'): and sometimes reason 2.. However in the case of reason 2 IE willl still try to show 'partly' the image: it only happens if the headers get broken during loading.

 

 

 

Taking "too long to load" is something I never heard of though: I've seen sometimes pictures which are about 400 mb big and took more than 30 mins to load: all without problems! (also if your ram is overloaded windows will give like 10 security warnings and everything starts to run slowly and crash).
