Swamp Decay effect?

Featured Replies

So, whenever I get to Barrows after walking through the Mort Myre swamp shortcut, and dig into my first mound, I always get the "The swamp decay effect is now over" message. But what has been puzzling me is: what does the swamp decay effect actually DO? Maybe I missed some dialogue in Nature Spirit, but I never figured this part out.

It can hit 1-2 on you after some time, but if you just run through the swamp, you don't need to worry about that.

it's basically like the desert effect. you stay in the swamp too long you get hit for 1's and 2's.

What you say, is done by ghasts (invisible monsters in the swamp), and both of these effects can be prevented, if

you have blessed sickle and druid pouches (from nature spirit quest) in your inventory.

I've been in that swamp and it's never happened :wall:

I guess it could happen if you just stand there for a while or something

yeah, unless you stand there for ages it doesn't happen.

Also: unlike the desert effect it also "harms" other stats.. but it harms so little you hardly notice it (like 1 "damage" a minute).

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

If you stay in there you get a message that's different from the ghasts, "The swamp decays you!" And it deals a little bit of damage. That's what it's talking about
