(even without the ring of forging?) ring of forging doesnt help you with xp in any way, and yes it gives you the same amount as it would if you were smithing it normally, but it also gives magic exp, and you smelt 100% of your iron. So, you do not get any extra exp by using a Ring of Forging while superheating.
