on of ym friends currently just got their original account back from someone who stole it several months ago.

The guy who stole it is capable of taking it back via the account recovery, is there anything ym friend can do to make sure he wont get it back again?

my friend has financial transaction proof that he is the true owner of the account, can he get it locked?

if so how?

thanks in advance

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Your friend need to get in contact with the company he paid the membership via; VIsa, PayPal or what company it was, and make sure they send the payment proof to Jagex, verifying your friends name and who is the true owner of the account. Then he should send in a customer support about his problems attaching his payment receipts. But before I did all that I would do what the poster above me adviced; scan for keyloggers and or malicious malware on the computer. Make sure the computer is spit clean before doing anything else on that machine. If your friends computer is infected he will never be able to recover his account 100%.

cheers, he definatly has no keyloggers/spyware ect

about the customer support, howw do i actually send a message to them.. it seems to just bring up pages with information on and no real way to contact them

thats the only bit we couldnt get around

No, Jagex doesnt make it easy for us paying customer to get in touch with them do they?

My best advice would be to click on the link "Click here to log into the Password Recovery system". You will get a log-in screen where to put in username and password, which will lead you to a message box. Write in your request and concerns about loosing your acount to the thief again, there. Tell them you been in contact with the company you paid the membership via and that they will provide with necessary proof of the true ownership of the account in question. Remember to attach an e-mail address where they can reach you.

I'm in a similar "case": there are a few cases where you can easily get somebodies account if you have the correct info: info that "changes" for most people: however for some of us it's "static" info: if you know it (IP address you log in from for example) you can forever use the same info to get the account.... There's nothing you can do other than hoping jagex changes the way recoveries are handled (my suggestion: use a system like paypal - where you actually have to make a phonecall to paypal in case you need to recover your account. Don't tell me that it's too much work: paypal can do it, and they even have a bigger consumer base than runescape).

Also: create a bankpin with a 7 day delay.. Works good against crackers who use those static information. (it doesn't work against keyloggers though - that's a common misconception made by jagex to hide the fact that they know accounts can be recovered in 1% of the cases with only "static" data).

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.
