brznak
I'm a novice at runescape and thought that maybe it might be fun to create a pker in addition to my main. I read a few websites about pures and decided to just keep it simple and go with an iron melee pure. My stats are: Combat Level: 49 Attack: 40 (for rune weapons) Strength: 65 Defense: 1 Range: 40 (for dhide chaps/vambraces) Prayer: 13 Magic: 1 Hitpoints: 55 I'm not sure how the new PvP system is going to work so I thought I'd just try and get my strength up as high as I was able. Since I got prayer early on I thought maybe I should just take it up to 31 to get the strength boost... does that make sense? Any advice on where to go from here would be appreciated. Thanks. Rang3Plz
I dont see 13 prayer as of any real use for you because it would run out so fast. As you said, i think you should raise it to 31. Everything else looks good. "Show Me A Good Loser And I'll Show You A Loser"
Prun
if your making this account for new pvp, why not. if it is for bh, i suggest not getting 31 pray, hit max cb too fast.
ladycai
^ agree. It's either that or have enough prayer for protection, but it's your choice from there. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
bongo_man
I'd suggest getting the 31 Prayer. If you were to get it now you'd be at the maximum of 51 combat, leaving you with room to grow 4 more combat levels. It'd take about 8 or so strength levels until you'd become 56 Combat, along with the 6 or 7 HP levels gained with it. Prun
hello bongo man, in previous posts, you said that having higher hitpoints would benifit; yet in this one, you ask the person the get prayer, reducing the hitpoints lvl at the combat level. I believe in lower crater f2p, prayer is not good at all, in my experience, one can get around 78 str at 55 cb, and that is easily 19s, and 24s with scim and 2h respectively. Another point against getting prayer, is if the for the original post-er, money isn't a factor, then he would want to stay in lower crater for the lowest time, and without prayer that would last a longer time. Hi. I suggested that the OP get 31 Prayer because he's already at 13 Prayer. 13 Prayer doesn't even last more than a minute, so the strength boost it gives is only for a limited amount of time. So it's quite useless for them to stay at 13 Prayer, whereas if they were to get 31 Prayer it would last longer and allow them to hit higher for a longer period of time. You're right about the max strength level obtainable by a non-prayer strength pure is 78, and with around 69 HP it would put them at the maximum of 55 combat. A pure with 31 prayer would be in the same situation, just take off about 8 HP levels and 5 Strength levels. In my experience prayer works well with strength pures simply because of the benefits that come from it, such as the protection prayer and Ultimate Strength. Prayer boosts your strength by 15% for a set amount of time, whereas strength potions only boost your strength level 12.5% and it decreases by 1 over time until you reach your original strength level, meaning the prayer pure will be able to hit their max for a longer time than the strength pure. This is especially significant in the situation described above- the pure with 78 Strength relies on that 12.5% boost provided by the strength potion in order to hit their max (19 with scim, 23 with 2h), meaning that once it decreases by one level they will only be able to hit 1 below their max (18 with scim, 22's with 2h). Even though the prayer pure will have to deal with the decreasing levels of the strength pot as well, they still have that 15% boost for a set time, meaning they will be able to hit higher than the non-prayer pure for a longer amount of time. So a prayer pure with a dose of strength pot and Ultimate Strength activated would be able to hit their max (20 with scim, 24 with 2h) until their strength decreased by one level, making them hit 1 level below their scim max (19 with scim, 24 still with 2h). If the two were fighting each other, the prayer pure would be hitting the non-prayer pures max for a much longer time, while the non-prayer pure would be hitting 2 less than the prayer pures max after a strength level has faded. I don't see where the OP said money wasn't a factor, but if we assume it isn't then he should still get prayer by all means.
