Felston.Less new.Part 2.

Aside from my book (which is saved on another computer, and I can't get it back for a while), I do in fact,do other things. Its quite a new idea, fresh from an episode of Criminal Minds and Looking for Group webcomic...Its not exactly copying them, just a slight idea...I call it...Felston!Meh,anti-climatic.

Not going to go into detail about the plot, this being the prologue, just introduce you to the basic areas we could have things in...And a main character...If you're smart you may catch a hint on the plot ;) .

Felston. What a wondrous kingdom, what a beautiful empire, what a magnificent sovereignty.

From the lush, blooming meadows of Kals Point, to the scenery of the Eagle Reaches range of mountains. From the windswept trees in the Geldrak forest, to the magnificent, sprawling city of Felstons Hold. Even the marshes and the surrounding Melfen slums are wonderful.

All this beauty, all those wonderful locations, controlled by our one, glorious ruler. Our respected king, our honorable emperor, our divine sovereign. His Majesty, the great King Revler, divine ruler of Felston and sole master of magicks in our land.

This one man united the entire region, conquering his first town with only one servant. By his tenth town he had gathered himself an army fifty thousand strong. By this time, the marshes of Melfen had turned into a battle zone for the Brekor orcs, and then Eltendor elves, respectively from the Eagles Reaches and Geldrak forest.

With stunning ingenuity, our esteemed king rushed from his base in Kals Point, and took the opportunity to claim several orc and elven followers for his cause. Claiming many towns for the kingdom, he turned our camp in the deserted land of Melden into Felstons Hold, and it covered nearly half the previously deserted area.

As the battle for the Melfen began to close, the Glorious One took the opportunity to close in on both armies, easily overpowering them with strategy and his own power over the magicks.

He had done all this by age 27, and within a year, he had obliterated the remaining oppression and rebuilt all destroyed towns within his kingdom. Our ruler, King Revler. Ruler of the entire known continent. Diplomat of the three combating races. Sole practitioner of magicks. Wise and powerful warrior. These do not even begin to describe his wonder, his pure and concentrated power.

Indeed, those statements even belittle him, for now he is merely 34, and his rulings surpass that of the previous Elven and Orc rulers, of their respective tribes.

By the hand of his Majestys assistant, Bledmir Keltoff.

20th day of the fifth month, year 7 of Felston.

Part one,possibly next week,but I'm having examinations,so not a definite.

I'm a few paragraphs into part 1,and I've already snuck in a clue or two about the plot...Pacing fails..

But still, its subtle enough. Here we go...Don't get me wrong though,I just had a Lit test earlier today...Exams next week -.-

Mister Bledmir? a small child had somehow found his way through the crowd surrounding the blacksmith next door, which was having a promotion, to the bakery where a middle-aged man awaited his order.

Yes, child? he replied with a surprising lack of hesitation or disdain, considering his position. His voice was untouched by years of screaming new decrees, but his face had a strangely discolored patch on the right cheek. The absence of a royal guard was also a strange occurrence, but a he did have a sword conspicuously strapped to his back.

May I know how old you are? the childs innocence flooded into his voice, and his face lit up, as if deliberately to melt away any shield of apathy the man would have had.

Child, I do wish to answer your question, but truth be told, I was born before we had a year system, and I do not know how old I was at that time. He was telling the truth, how could he lie to those eyes? a system of date keeping had only been settled upon after the unification of Felston. However, he had told only part of it.

A strange gap had always existed in his memory, but it was not his childhood, and there were many such gaps, in a way that would make doctors rule out amnesia. He tried to remember past those gaps, distancing himself out of focus, perhaps missing another of the childs questions, snapping out of it when the child ran away, and he found his own sword around his throat.

Arent swords illegal here? a rough voice asked. It was true, weapons of any kind are illegal in the Hold, and blacksmiths could only make armor for the army, which trained in arms outside of town. Only the King and his sole assistant could carry weapons.

Yes, yes they are. Bledmir answered calmly. The sword was conspicuously placed on purpose, and he had something planned. He reached back through a hold cut in the chair for comfort with his right hand, holding onto his assailants crotch. With his left hand he pushed the blade away from his neck, withdrawing his right hand upon this.

He pulled his hand to his right leg, and shoved it into the pocket of his pant leg, his gauntleted left hand quivering against the pressure the blade was exerting. Finding what it was looking for, his right hand was swung back again, this time around the chair. A scream of pain and a released sword allowed Bledmir to stand up and assess the situation.

He had just been attacked by a bald tattooed man. Large muscles, slightly taller than himself. The man had stolen Bledmirs blade to attack him, and was currently neutralized by a dagger in the leg. The only reason this worked was because any resident of the Hold would be unknowing of such pain, never having the chance to experience it.

Affected by the commotion, two of the royal guards finally appeared, dressed in newly purchased chain mail over their regular plate mail. Also disallowed weapon arms within city walls, they were exceptional at hand-to-hand combat, and quickly neutralized the assailant, who had just fought the pain of the dagger and stood up.

Tearing the cloth off his shirt, the guards wrapping his hands in it, and shackled him. Bledmir stifled a chuckle at them allowing his hands to be comfortable, despite his being under arrest.

Doing what he usually did after such a situation, Bledmir played back the events as they occurred, and imagined the outcome. Either way, His Majesty was not going to be happy. Bledmir sighed, inwardly the guards knew why, but they kept it to themselves for their own sakes, even if they cared little for Bledmir, they hoped His Majesty wouldnt be as angry as he was after the last assassination attempt

Felt like some character development/insight.More of a look into his history, perhaps?

Page 3,

Diary of Bledmir Keltoff,

Volume Three

Day 25, month 5, 27th year of Felston

Warday, Cloudy.

I am beginning to wonder, why this is volume three. I have read through volumes one and two countless times, yet there are many gaps, and no account to the recent gaps in memory that seem to fall within the dates which I kept them. I am beginning to doubt that they were written by my hand, though the handwritings are so very similar.

Interestingly enough, I (if it was indeed, me) seemed to keep a daily record back then as well however, there seemed to be a week gap between the last record of a volume and the first of the next. Additionally, none of the previous volumes were complete, as if I could not continue to write in that volume

Enough of this, it is making me think far too much, and I want to be prepared to face His Majesty later. This is due to earlier today, when an attempt on my life was made. I managed to shove a dagger into his leg before he could do anything, however, and the guards arrested him.

Very well, I am off to complete my preparations. I leave you with an interesting excerpt I found in volume 1.

  • Today my hand was cut off! And how I am writing this may come as a surprise, but His Majesty has found another hand to replace it, and with a combination of surgery and his wondrously unique magic, I am able to use it to twice the previous effect! Or perhaps it is to the same effect, but the wonder of having a limb cut off and reattached in a matter of sun-levels is making it seem more useful.

Interesting though it is, I doubt this is true. It is an interesting concept, however, I shall consider giving up a finger or similar to try it. But for now, I am over and out.

Opinions?

No you don't. That would be prohibitively heavy.

Mail can be worn to cover the joints where armour plate doesn't provide complete protection, ie. elbows, knees, neck under the gorget. Otherwise, you only wear a padded gambeson under plate armour.

Since I am extraordinarily bored, and just refreshed in how much I love writing diaries,Bledmir has another entry today.Incomp.

Page 4,

Diary of Bledmir Keltoff,

Volume Three

Day 27, month 5, 27th year of Felston

Elfday, Rain.

The strangest thing occured today. I was out on an errand, and I decided to venture to the "magic" shop, just to see if old Jenkels has any new pranks. As you know, to get there from the palace grounds I have to pass through Gangland. That, for sake of future records, is where His Majesty, in his infinite wisdom, has seen fit to allow gangs to live.

Anyway, as I passed an alley,I was suddenly ambushed from behind!

Anyway, as I passed an alley,I was suddenly ambushed from behind! The hand that grabbed me, covered my mouth was strong, but delicate. Thus I knew it was a woman's hand, the smell of spice told me she was probably a healer. She dragged me back a few paces, her pace slowed by my struggles. And then I must have been clubbed, for I have no recollection of what transpired next, just the I woke up in an inn...

The inn he awoke in was not particularly big, nor was it an inn, per se. It was more of a dark tavern few people knew of. A fireplace was opposite the door, which was barred. Bledmir looked around and noted every other opening had been barred, save the fireplace. A fire cackled in the fireplace, and a man, large in stature and cloaked, sat beside it.

"You're awake then. Sit in the chair, Bledmir. All will be clear soon" The man's voice was grim, and now Bledmir could see his face, that was grim too.

_____

Still incomp.
