Hello,

I recently torrented some stuff and it was in .avi format. When I clicked to play the file, it came up in windows media player with voice only. Is it possible to view .avi files normally? Like with the video.

Install the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) that you'll find on the pages at http://www.cccp-project.net/, and then you'll be able to play near anything you like in near your own choice of any media player. Oh, and make sure that you read the install instructions for first-time stuff and heed them, otherwise you'll regret the negative effects. :geek:

CCCP isn't bad, but I'd go with VLC personally. Supports most any format right out of the box, works great with any OS (as I think CCCP is localized to Windows - bad if you're on Mac/*nix), and it's reliably fast, too.

CCCP is better than VLC in my experience. VLC played next to nothing at a decent speed and had tons of bugs, at least the build I used, whereas media player classic + CCCP runs absolutely anything smoother than media player 11 ever could.

...And how many years ago was this?

about a year tbh. I havent downloaded a new build in ages, simply because CCCP was doing a damn good job. Are the new versions THAT much of an improvement?

I'd recommend VLC.

It's been improved quite a bit since about a year ago. The interface is better (volume is no longer a progress bar :P), and several features now work much better than they did before. It doens't hog nearly as much memory as WMP does either. As for CCCP, I haven't used this, so I can't compare.
