BMX Biking.

Well, all my friends dropped skateboarding and they all bought bikes (basically for riding around, no tricks but little poppa-wheelies) but I took it serious. I have a walmart bike and it weighs about 45 pounds and i can "j-hop" about 3 feet in the air...

I just wanted to know if anyone else on these forums rode BMX bikes and take it seriously?

Also, can someone suggest a medium-prices NICE street bike?

I was thinking about asking the parents for a bike from this website but they arnt very cheap.. Any suggestions?

Also, if you wanna just talk about BMX discuss bikes and such, leave a post ;)

I have a GT Vertigo I'll sell you for cheap.

I also have a DK General Lee and a Haro R2 from when I used to ride. Plus a bike with random assembled parts from all types of bike companies.

I myself do not own one, but all of my biking friends that I know have them. It is quite cool to ride with them, as I can go down to Skate Parks, which I do not usually do.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I own a 1978 Ross racing bike I found in the dumpster and restored. As for BMX biking, I never really did any of that.

45 pounds!? That seems a little heavy. The above mentioned bike weighs about that and it is all chrome and steel and built for >6' riders.

GT bikes are pretty weak built bikes and if anything are in the cheap-mid price bracket, I'm guessing by your budget you don't have big bucks.

Look around BMX forums in the buy and sell section and try to find something second hand in your price bracket, you'll always get a much better bike for the same price, the only difference being there will be a couple of scratches on it.

I used to ride BMX. I was never very good and a big scare kind of pushed me away from it. I was riding around at a nearby football stadium a few years back and I saw a nice looking 5 stair. Long take off area, long landing area. Was the biggest thing I ever jumped so I decided to go for it and hope for the best. Rode up to it a few times to get the feeling and I finally went for it. Great take off, lots of air, nice landing. Felt great. Did it a few more times without many problems. Then my last attempt for the day was a mess. It was all good until I got into the air. Left foot slipped off the pedal and went backwards and under the rear peg. Pedal jammed up into my knee because my other foot was now alone forcing it's pedal down. Landed with my leg jammed under the rear peg and smashed against the pedal. Couldn't walk on it for a while, nice gash that was bleeding at a steady rate, and all I could do was sit there and laugh. Took me a while but I finally got to my feet and used my bike to hold me up as I worked my way home. Got away with no stiches and nothing broken. Just a scared to get me away from BMX and I can still see where the skin never filled in the gash to this day. This summer I went back to that jump, but I jumped it on a skateboard instead. Landed it once and called it a day ;)

Also, I used to ride a Mongoose "Team Edition" or something like that. It's still sitting in my shed and I haven't touched it in a while. I think I might get it out just for a ride one of these days :-k
