jagex idea of how to deal with reports

Featured Replies

Dear readers,

First of all I would liek to state I haven't been muted for the last 2 months, so I am not here to whine about that. I wanted to make a good rant about the way how Jagex is treating their reports now, and what it will mean to us.

First of all, recently I noticed Jagex added a new option to their arsenal against offenders by making certain reports on your account not yet appealable, they call this deffered. It means might you get more reports and you end up perm muted or banned for some time, then at that point appealing becomes available. What they do not tell you, is that in the meantime you can not appeal. This means that if you get muted unfairly (which happends quite often) you will have to deal with it, and you can't do anything about it. Now I bet nearly all scapers have been muted unfairly in the past, and we all know that in the past we could appeal, and then your mute was lifted within a certain ammount of time. However due to the large quantities of reports their J-mods couldn't handle all the work and they switched to the deferred system.

Now as an F2p I might find myself on thin ice here, but all you p2p-ers pay for this game don't you? Doesn't it feel reasonable then, that might you get muted unfairly or even banned unfairly that it is taken care of? For maybe 500 of you paying 5 dollars/euro/whatever a month (makes 2500) they can pay 1 new J-mod easily that handles all these affairs. But nooo, instead of working on runescape they are developping funorb, a place I personally never plan on visiting.

Also i am bothered by the way Jagex stand on the topic of liars in the air/nature altars. apparently, they are not planning on taking any action of these liars (in my eyes scammers), and they are becoming a pest in the altars. As rule 2 clearly states: "You must not scam or deceive other players. And lying to other players for your own personal gain is not in the spirit of fair play.

" but still they do not think lying about your runecraft level to get assists and thus scam people out of their rc xp while giving a lower ammount of money than expecting in return a scam (will explain this later). I just think jagex somehow have messed up their priority's. i can tell you I even got muted for "spamming" in the air altar, for saying "mauranius x9", rapidly to draw the runners to me, a fair and a true assister. Even though this is already weird (they better mute the scammers), if you read rule 1 on account of spamming it get's even worse.

Rule 1 states: "Spamming/flooding the chat window is to fill the chat window with unnecessary text. This is also an offence and is disruptive and unfair on other players as it makes it more difficult for them to communicate and trade with each other. "

Saying your name and your assist marker is not unnecessary text, as it shows the runners who the real assisters are! I know runner have eyes and they can visit the highscores themselves, still I think it is rather stupid to blaim the runners of being filled with trust, then just taking care with some simple changes in either rules or gameplay to stop the lying! (they could make a signpost in the altars where people can see the 10 best assisters currently present in the altar for example)

Anyways, that was my rant, I hope I get some constructive reply's this time, for people that want to know more about how I think of assist scamming just open the hidden thing

[hide=My opinion on assist liars]Assist lying is in my opinion scamming, I will now tell you why

When people come to the air altar as a runner they expect a service from higher leveled runecrafters. in this way they will exchange their runecrafting xp (which the assister get's) as well as the running time for a load of airs (which can be sold for money).

if people are assisted by a liar the assister get's the xp, though the one being assisted will find him/herself scammed as they got less money then they would have gotten if they used a fair assister, and they also lost the xp that they would have gotten if they ran the essences for themselves.

People oppose me mostly by saying that by being assisted they comply with the thought they won't get xp, and that they will always get more airs (and thus money) back than they would have gotten if they ran it themselves.

Now I want to give an example: You go to the market to buy cabbages and there are many people selling vegetables. All the market stalls say they give the best cabbages there are. So you buy your cabbages and later find out that you actually got a lower quality of cabbage then expected. it is true it is still a better cabbage then you could have grown yourself, but you do feel scammed.

So you see, I just hate people lying to get their "quick xp's" and in that way making advantage of other peoples trust. It's just bad![/hide]

Very well writen. =D>

Some p2p'ers pay Some extra money due to HD and not subscribing quick enough therefore having to spend more money for membership.

And f2p'ers also generate some revenue (0.01 cents per click) so they could definitely afford more J-mods.

The thing about air rune assist scamming could be a lot worse but it's still bad.

Anyway you might want to ask some other p2p'er to ask in the reporting academy why the assist scamming isn't against the rules.

All in all, a very good rant.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored. :twss:

OT'ers pee in other peoples drinks :wall:

That is true. Even f2pers make jagex quite a bit of money by ads and such. Its either they dont care or just too lazy to do anything about it.

assist scamming is just wrong :shame: i mean, it should be reportable.

F2p barely pays for f2p.

I do agree with the offense appealing. It's not like Jagex is using up man hours with appealing green accounts, they don't review it anyway.

As for the altar scamming: Good luck. If you can find a way to make it reportable without sparking a line of people abusing customer support, be my guest. What are you going to do, make it against the rules to lie about your levels? You'll see this pop up all over runescape:

Jagex has said that the ads in f2p barely covers the cost for the free game. They make almost no money from it.

And i do agree with you about the air assisters but really, how could they combat them? I don't see a way,

Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color]

they could make all of the assist worlds into quick chat worlds. this would alleviate the problem, therefore making those scammers unable to lie therefore not being able to scam. however some people would not want that for valid reasons, such as being able to thank others quickly and take less time. but thats the only i way i can see to stop the scamming

I only wish that didnt represent jagex's customer support system so well...

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

Makes me happy to see P2p and f2p finally unite on an item. Yes I am aware we pay nuthing bla bla bla we get no service, but just remember the same [cabbage]ty service as we get is also given to p2p even though Jagex can afford better for everyone, but instead they spend it on useless things like.... funorb :?

So were you accused of "spamming?" If so, that is extremely unfair. I believe that assist lying is scamming as well. But, there is really no way for us f2pers to let Jagex know of this.
