How should I manage my kingdom?

Fish(raw) and flax.

10 workers on raw fish and 5 on coal is the maximum possible profit(I'll check that in a bit), but I'd suggest 10 on fish with 5 in maples if you care about farming at all. If not, fish and coal is the best option

EDIT: Nope, flax has passed coal...

Another question...it seems like no matter how much money I put in (less than 1.5 mill) it gets drained to below 750k each time i withdraw...do the citizens withdraw a percentage or a different price depending on what items they collect?

I want to maximize my training and profit equally....so I need to train up my fletching a little (to 59 to have all quests available) which means skimming a little flax and maples is probably a good idea...my smithing is atrocious, which means I've been banking all the coal I get...the only thing I sell is most of the flax and any jewelry I get from the nests that I get. I usually make enough from that and battlestave high alching to get 1 mill back in each day, but sure enough...down to 750k.

Also, I have the impression that each day I should help the citizens to get back to 100% approval BEFORE talking to Ghrimm and that I should deposit more money AFTER withdrawing the resources...is that right? Should I be coming back every day or could I let things go, then help the citizens back up to 100% before I withdraw to get the most out of my money? All in all, it seems like a waste of time because I'm really not getting any profit (flax seems to be selling for less and less...and how many people actually need it as time goes on? coal is dropping) since I need some of the resources (but I'm talking 100 flax out of the 625 i'm getting for having 5 citizens working there...i also have 5 cutting wood and 5 mining coal).

I've seen the guides and read this post, but this is by far the most confusing part of the game to me. I'm not a financial genius...clearly.

No they withdraw 10% of the money deposited up to 75k each day.

Doesn't really make any difference...

Should I be coming back every day or could I let things go, then help the citizens back up to 100% before I withdraw to get the most out of my money?

If you want to maximise profit then keeping your approval at 100% is essential. I find I still make a nice profit if I only visit once a fortnight or so (ie let your approval drop as far as 80-85%). However, you obviously need to deposit a decent amount of money at a time this way.

It's a free 75k each day even if you don't visit Miscellania or even log on. Its always going to be a good deal. BTB you're best using MTK to make the most money possible, then buying what you need from the GE rather than using the resources directly.

I put 1.2 Mil in...10 Workers on Fish (raw) and the remainder on Maples. I leave for a week, and collect on the same day I get my Tears of Guthix...I use that as my reminder. I will go to the island daily if possible...or whenever I have the opportunity, but it is not essential.

I cook all the Swordies and sell on GE...maybe cook 1k of Tuna and sell those + the Raw Tuna on the GE...and usually make a profit just from that! I was burning the Maples to increase my FMing...and the Tree Seeds for Farming.

Over 1 week, the workers will use 525k. So, if you only go once per week to collect, you only have to take 525k with you so your money always stays at 1.2 mil at the start of MTK'ing each week.

I mange based on what I want to use to increase my stats...but I also make a tidy sum of money with this method as well as XP.

Try mixing and matching...but ALWAYS max out the Fish (raw). This will be your primary money maker.

Good Luck!

You have to put in a little mroe than 1.2m for 1 week I believe. Like 1.25m or something similar to end with 750k. In either case, I just put in 1.3m in case I forget ffor a day or something.
