Hawks
This is my problem: Whenever I open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, this happens. If you click cancel at the beginning it opens up fine, and if you click okay at the end it opens up fine. When I try to open a Word/Excel/PowerPoint document, it gives an error message: (I just blocked out my name, cause I'm paranoid like that) And then opens the program you'd use to open the document with the same error message as in the first pic. If you open a document with the program open, the document opens, whether or not you use the open command in the program or double-click the file's icon. I am running Windows 2000 Professional with Microsoft Office 2000. This problem started after the hard drive crashed and my dad replaced it. He managed to get most of the files off of the old hard drive. All files saved since have this problem, and most that were saved before as well. There are four profiles (2 admin, 2 restricted) on the computer, and I'm fairly sure this happens on all of them. Anyone hazard a guess at why this happens and if/how you can fix it? sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
sloter
Looks like you need to uninstall and then install it again from the cd. What probably happened is MS office pry took the ID of the old hard drive. You could also just get OpenOffice which will read and write the same files MS office will. I had a lot of problems with OpenOffice. It was really slow, and crashed on me once (which is around the time I was frustrated enough to delete it anyways). I will agree on the re-install though. Probably because of your computer or your JRE version. I have it and i like it much better that MS Office.
ClareJonsson
This happens a lot with Office 2000, it's possibly the worst version of office ever. It even asks you for the discs to un-install the damn thing. I would suggest inserting your office cd and re-installing all products. Expanding on what Clare said, there should be a "Detect and Repair" option in the menus of the Office Programs. It might help towards fixing this nightmare. :geek: ~D. V. "yeowch..." Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
