Okay this is kinda sad, I'm a lvl 100 with 40 smithing i need to get to 50 smithing so i can superheat mith ore to get my mage up. I'm asking whats the CHEAPEST way to get to 50 smithing, i have heaps of time on my hands so i'm asking the cheapest and the cheapest will most possibly be the slowest so give your ideas. I don't want to mine the ore i just want to buy the bars then make the items then sell to Grand Exchange or General Store but something that sells on Grand Exchange would be better.

Thanks and post away

99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. In the past 2 days I've made 7.2m on top of that thanks to Bounty Hunter. So why play for 3 years when you can do that?

Well.

Steel bars are obviously the best. I think you should make steel bars and then cannonballs.

Its quite good money I think. I know I got 30-63 by smelting

Imagine that.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Iron Throwing Knives are your best friend!

Ore can be purchased on the GE (I've gotten 4k Iron Ore for as low as 89 coins each ore).

The key is having Rings of Forging, so you are always successful at smelting. Each Iron bar gets you 5 knives...and I've sold them for as much as 40 coins each throwing knife (almost a doubling of my initial investment).

This is BY FAR, the cheapest (albeit slow) method to raise your Smithing. Most would get bored quickly with this method as it is SLOW...but you are guaranteed to make a profit!

Note: I don't consider the Rings of Forging in my profit equation.
