Antifire potions useless against KBD?

Featured Replies

I was soloing KBD earlier today and I read up a little from Tip.It's KBD monster hunting guide and it said to bring along antifire potions. So I brought one along with me. But then when I got there and had drank my antifire, his breath attacks damaged me. Almost every time.

I'm used to fighting blues, blacks, irons, and mith dragons with antifire pot/DFS combo and never ever taking damage from their firebreath attack because that's what the antifire+DFS combined reduces the damage to, 0.

Why does Tip.It's KBD guide say to bring antifire potions when they don't do anything?

Slayer Drops

Dragon Chainbody (dust devil), Dragon Platelegs x2, Dragon Plateskirt x3, Dragon Boots x38, Dragon Med Helm x5, Dragon Spear x3, Shield Left Half x4

Staff of Light x2, Abyssal Whip x16, Dark Bow x17, Granite Maul x17, Focus Sight, Hexcrest x2, Black Mask x4, Leaf-bladed Sword, Mystic x31, Obsidian x13, Brine Sabre x2, Spirit Shield, Dragonstone x5

He has 4 breaths...fire breath, freezing breath, poison breath, and the breath that reduces stats. Anti dragonfire sheild and antifire potion makes the fire breath hit 0, I'm pretty sure.

Ah, now it makes more sense to me. I guess pretty much half the time I get hit with one of KBD's breath attacks I should expect to take some damage.

I know the poison/freeze/reduction breath attacks don't get used as often as the regular firebreath but out of curiosity has anyone in the history of RS tried to figure out the rates for how often KBD does each of his different breath attacks?

KBD rarely does poison/ruduce stats. He doesn't have a freeze breath, but he might have an Ice one, if that's what you're referring to. You could be right about the shield + pot making one of his hits 0, though.

I kinda want to test this out now but seeing as my summoning level isn't 88+ I don't think I could effectively stay at KBD's room for long enough periods of time to get really good solid results...

Freeze/ ice whatever, the one that freezes you, similar to ice spells

My point exactly. KBD can't freeze.

If I'm wrong, #-o

Ahhhh... I was wrong. So I deserve a #-o

This monster has 3 heads, and each uses different breaths. The fire breath will lower your stats, and hit heavy damage. The poison breath will poison you and hit heavy damage. The ice breath will freeze you on the spot, so you cannot move, it will also do damage. This monster can hit above 40 hp of damage and from very long distances (breath is long ranged).

It has 3 attacks, I guess. The Ice one it almost NEVER uses. (From my experiences). It does its poison and fire semi commonly... and I do get hit consistantly even against the red fire... so I don't know, you could be wrong. Next time I go to KBD, I"ll test it out.

All I know is one fire never hits me, unless my antifire runs out.

The antifire pot and antidrag shield prevents the stat-reduction (am pretty sure of that: only had stats reduced when not under effect of pot)

Aren't his different breath attacks different colors? If so, it would be best if you ranged with a rune crossbow at a distance to see which is which, also to see which breath attacks hit you for damage when you're using antifire+DFS. I'm too tired to try this out tonight but maybe sometime this weekend, hopefully KBD lair won't be infested with noobs (who hopefully will all be slaughering each other on PvP worlds ::' )
