A forum for debates, but this power is slowly transferring to General Discussions, which kind of makes the DC of no use. We do have some ingenious players in here who have some pretty good ideas (like Local Guy, Zierro), but to spur the maximum discussion/debate, all ideas are posted in the GD.

 

 

 

Why?

 

 

 

The posting of debateable topics at the GD is making it VERY crowded, and added to the normal spam, GD has only half of the page as reasonable GD topics.

 

 

 

The only topics I see in DC today are the ones which may get flamed a lot on the GD (like Dragon armours and possible monsters) and others are just questionaires.

 

 

 

There are quite a few topics on the DC asking us, our opinion directly without the owner himself making a comment. Better for the Questionaires forum if you take my opinion. And the "what if?" topics are not worth debating at all.

 

 

 

Rarely do we get to see a reasonable debate in this forum which is kind of resulting in less visits.

 

 

 

If we are going to use the GD for all the debates, what is the point in this forum? And if this forum has an objective of lessening the workload of the GD, then it isn't doing that great a job, is it?

 

 

 

I, for one, enjoy reasonable debates. It shows me the point of view of another person on a matter which I oppose and his ability to make that matter equally reasonable to me.

 

 

 

What I propose is, I think most of the threads that are worthy of DC should start being moved to the forum from GD. This would probably rekindle the DC.

 

 

 

Constructive criticism is always welcome. Refrain from flaming.

To be honest, I don't see a difference between the Debate Club and General Discussion. I think that the posts should be moved there instead.

The debate club is supposed to be for mature discussion where you don't get flamed and spammed like you do in GD, although it still happens. Really I think most users just treat DC as an alternative GD, which isn't as active.

If i remember, debate club actaully used to be a subforum of Rants.

 

 

 

A vote was passed to have it as its own forum or not, and it was decided that it would be, so putting it as a subforum is just umm...counter productive? not exactly what I mean, but you get my gist...

If I'm perfectly honest, I remember when the DC first came about and it was a respected board with plenty of mature discussion. Now it's descended into a mudslinging contest. I seldom find any difference between DC and Rants these days.

No, no, you misunderstand me. I don't want the Debates Club to become a sub-forum for GD, rather I'm pointing out that, indirectly, it has already taken up the mantle of being a sub-forum of GD (looking at the quality of topics in DC). ;)

 

 

 

I don't consider "What if?" topics worth any notice and most of the times, the same topic is always revived like skillcapes, F2P items, Skill1 is boring.. etc.
