Mercifull
Huzzah and whatnot :D European politicians have thrown out a controversial bill that could have led to software being patented. The European Parliament voted 648 to 14 to reject the Computer Implemented Inventions Directive. The bill was reportedly rejected because, politicians said, it pleased no-one in its current form. Responding to the rejection the European Commission said it would not draw up or submit any more versions of the original proposal. Pyro
doesnt affect me...being an american and all but....WOOHOO :D :DIt does affect you almost as much as it affects us. Software patents makes it harder to develop software for small companies which results in less quality software for everyone to use, no matter where you live. den160593
OMG no! Man I'd be protesting as well if I had invented some amazing software like my father did (he spent years on it won't tell you what it is but it took him 5 years during retirement)
Mercifull
OMG no! Man I'd be protesting as well if I had invented some amazing software like my father did (he spent years on it won't tell you what it is but it took him 5 years during retirement) Software code is protected already by copyright. The problem with the software bill is that I would have enabled Microsoft to patent the GUI Operating System :-/ Maybe you should read up a bit more on the bill because i think you are a bit confused as to what it entails. ____
Ah, from what I can recall of the Bill, people only would've been able to pantent stuff which so far doesn't exist in ANY form what so ever. So the only thing people could patent would be things were aren't even remotely similar to ANYTHING in existance atm. And that isn't very much. Hell it'd be down to maybe half a dozen things which no one would care about it when you really thought about it :-?
