Dracion1
To cut a long story short, I might be getting a laptop for Christmas so long as I can decide on which one to get. Anyway, I'm looking for something that will be good for working on, and will be able to play modern games on a moderate setting. Since all my previous computers have been Dells I've taken a look round their website to get some ideas. I've got a gut feeling though I could get better value for money, though I don't know where to look :wall:. If anyone has any suggestions, my price range is £500 - £750, and I'd prefer something with an Intel CPU and Nvidia graphics if possible. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. :D "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move." Laura
Asking for a discrete graphics card on a laptop for that price is a bit much, but you could take a look at the HP dv4-1125nr. 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 4GB SDRAM 250GB HDD 5,400rpm Intel GMA 4500MHD (Integrated graphics :( ) Vista Premium 64-bit I found it to be priced around $650. Also, I don't think you're wrong going to Dell. I'm about to buy a $550 computer from them with Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB DDR2 RAM, and an ATI Radeon HD 256MB. Pretty much all the components I was looking for, with a free bump up to a quad core processor.

Sbrideau
For £500 you can get this. Its about the best you'll get for £500. Yuck. One person in my class has one of those, and he has trouble with it (he's the only one in the class to have trouble with his laptop). If going with Dell, I personnally would not go with something else than an XPS, since I heard their other computers tend to break more easily than most brands. Dracion1
Thanks for all the advice so far guys  @Laura: I'm using GB£ as opposed to US$, as I stated originally ;) Although hardware prices are more expensive here, I will be able to get more for £750 than $750. @OldJoe: Just what I was looking for :D All I'd need to go with that would be an OS. Cheapest version of windows vista home premium to go with that I found: http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product ... P32O&af=50 I don't suppose anyone would know if I could get it cheaper than that?
