Neji Render --*-- Meh Very 1st Render Attempt --*--

Actually, I dunno what the guys name is :? . Got the picture off of a google search. But when I saved it, it said "Neji"... so I assume that is the guy's name. I am posting the pictures as thumbnails (because the are too big), so just click on them.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now... as you can see... it isn't very good  . That is mainly because I SUCK at doing renders. It is, however, my first attempt. C/C is welcome :) .

Okay, I'm not going to complain about the use of the word render, but is there a need to post a picture where all you did is delete the background? That takes like 2 seconds.

A better way to state this is to "Rate my cropping"

Rating a render is usually something you A) Made YOURSELF, not got off Google... or B) A 3d model or abstract shape rendered using a program.

Ryan - Well, I was just asking for an opinion. Sure, all I did was delete the background... but that takes longer than 2 seconds  . Tell me a way to do it in 2 seconds, because if you know a way, I'd really like to know. It isn't very "important", but I was just wondering if my work was all-right, bad, or horrible.

Carlos - A render can be something you made yourself, yes. But it also can mean something else. Take a look at gamerenders.com :? . It is a website/forum based off of renders (which is what I did to the picture... I rendered it). I posted my picture there too, but I wanted the good 'ol C/C of Tip.it. Oh, and about getting it from a google image search... err... most people who render a picture get them from a website/search  .

Once again, Tip.it slightly dissapointed me. All I wanted was a "Well it's ok, but it could be better", or, "Daaaaang... that sucks"... but all I got was short lectures  .

I have no idea where you got the idea that cutting an image out was rendering, but please refer to carlos's post again. He is right, you are confused.

Don't bother. I tried this argument on here before and apparentally someone's spreading some false information that a render is an image without a background. I got jumped by noobs.

Zibl, channels are always a good way to get rid of the background. I'm pretty sure tttia made a tutorial or something for us here.

Whoa, whoa... I'm not trying to be a whinny noob here  . I wasn't complaining or trying to pick a flame war or anything, I was just saying.

As you may can tell from my signature, I am fairly new with photoshop. I know that a render is an image made... I figured that out myself from other people's posts. Why am I calling this a render? I'll explain below:

gfdh4kh.png

As you can see, I'm not the only person calling them Renders :? . There is an entire part of the forum based on them.

546547qb.png

This is inside the 'Renders' part of the forum. Each topic is dedicated to an image that has been "cut out" of it's background.

In fact, here is a link --> http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/

~~ I'm not arguing, or trying to start anything. I am simply showing you people WHY I am calling this a render. If it isn't called a render (which according to those forums, is what it is called), please tell me what it is called so I won't make the same neeby mistakes   .

Zibl, it's hard to argue when sites like this exist. People have proved me wrong in the past with the term render so dont' worry about it. Generally, an image without a background isn't called a render. I also don't like that site since it's promoting the use of copyrighted images so it probably isn't a good site to try and prove your point with ;).

Well, alright. I wasn't trying to prove anyone wrong, persay... just trying to defend myself so you wouldn't think I was a mindless noob who heard the word render one day, and decided to call it that :? .

I must ask. Where might I find Tttia's guide to "channels". Never heard of them, or worked with them/it. I'll do a search though.

Now you recognize that's also called a render?

Of course a 3D draw uncomplete is also one

You ask for C/C, and then seconds later you say:

All I wanted was a "Well it's ok, but it could be better", or, "Daaaaang... that sucks"...

:|

What exactly do you want us to critique and give you advice on? Unless I'm entirely mistaken about your meaning of "Rendering", there is no artistic talent required behind extraction.

"Everyone is doing it, so it must be right!" :D Don't get yourself in trouble by jumping off any bridges! If you see my point.

Anyways, since I'll try to give some sort of a meaning to my post:

The original image is terrible quality! And if you save as a 24bit .PNG with transparency it will become transparent when somebody saves and opens it into photoshop.

Saving it as a JPG (non transparent) with a white background won't help, whoever opens it will just have to re-extract it to get rid of the background (and since its a JPG, select > color range won't work nearly as well!)
