raven_gaurd0
I'm not saying the movie was real, that would be dumb. But I want an honest opinion: was Ofelia's 'kingdom' a theological allusion to Heaven, was it one last pleasant day dream, or was she actually a princess? I thought it was the former, that she went to Heaven (yay), but I've heard different opinions.
indy500fan
del Toro said that it was left open to interpretation, you can believe that it was all real or you can believe that it was just the fantasy world in her mind. He said he likes to think that it is real, and since he created it that would probably be the "correct" answer if you had to choose one. EDIT: Oh and I want to mention I love this movie, haven't made a top movie list in a while but I think this would make top 10. EDIT2: Also don't know if I mentioned this here or not but I met Doug Jones at a comic convention a month or two ago. Extremely nice guy. Almost too nice, he gave me a hug just for talking to him for a few minutes. His presentation was pretty interesting too, told a good story about working with Dennis Quaid on a movie earlier in his career. Plus he's a Hoosier so that automatically makes him awesome :) . For those completely lost I didn't mention all this out of the blue, Doug Jones plays the Faun and the Pale Man in this movie. EDIT3: Here's a pic with Doug Jones and a friend (I'm on the right side of the pic with the stupid smile).
redhaloguy
Funny I just watched that today. In her head it was all real to other people not so much. Still some things that came out of that realm other people saw so it could be real. Still more Imagination than anything else. If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all. Wizz
It's like Neon Genesis, the nding is really up to you. But in my Opinion I htink it was real and she did go into a "Heaven" Wongton is better than me in anyway~~
stevepole
I've always thought of it being reality. Its been awhile since I've seen the film so I don't remember a lot of the details. I would need to re watch it to give you a more solid answer.
Eregion2
I figured it's one of those things you should never take literally, more like Serial Experiments Lain than NGE. I thought of it as a comparison of imagination and reality; the fact that what Ophelia imagined actually became real when she died could be an argument that the imagination, even though it's insubstantial, is the only way that we can each perceive reality. That reality is impossible without the imagination, and that because of the imagination everyone's reality is truly different instead of their being any one cohesive proof of what is real and what isn't. Come to think of it this would be an excellent topic for an essay.
Saru Inc
It's like Neon Genesis, the nding is really up to you. But in my Opinion I htink it was real and she did go into a "Heaven" 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now THAT's open to interpretation. I felt like I was trippin' when I saw it. I've not seen Pan's Labyrinth, is it gory? I'd have to say those, I was pissed how Hellboy 2 was practiacally a sequel to Pan's Labyrinth. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. I don't think Kubrick explained what was going on near the end of 2001 very well. The novel he wrote with Arthur C. Clarke makes more sense. The movie is still one of my favourites though. Pan's Labyrinth isn't gory at all. At least not that I can remember. Maybe a little gore, not nearly enough though (sorry, just watched just watched jPod so I got gore on the mind :D )

Eregion2
Well, yes. But that's far from making it a sequel.
