JoeDaStudd
Hi all, As you may know I love techy stuff. I'm looking for a new toy/gadget to give me something to do during the Christmas holiday. Something which I can copy and sync items from my PC/HTPC/iPhone. As well as using wireless to pick up my network/internet. Now this leaves me with lots of possible items. To save items being mentioned which I already have here's a list [hide=List]iPhone Multiple MP3/4 players PSP HTPC - would love to be able to sync or stream videos with it from the device A gaming PC A standard laptop - decent spec just not for gaming And all current gen consoles except the PS3 Before anyone says spoilt kid. I brought all, but the PSP for myself and I worked for the money.[/hide] I was thinking about either a netbook, PDA or possibly one of those Linux hand-helds (which I know Clare will say this). (Not too keen on Linux after I brought a part which Ubuntu hates) I know there are more things which do similar, but I'm not really to wised up about them. I don't really want to spend more then £200. Oh and if I can code/program for the device it would keep my attention on it for longer. Recommend away. [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]
ClareJonsson
it's a shame both the Wiz and the Pandora won't be out until after Christmas, you would have loved either one of them. Both are totally open source, and you can easily code for them in C++, Fenix and Flash etc. The Pandora you will be able to code ON it due to its full QWERTY keyboard and is the most powerful handheld device in the world so far. stevepole
personally I would go with the netbook, as that is what I'm most interested in getting tech wise.

InkofDeath
http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech ... iy-gadgets Try and do those over Christmas, will keep you entertained, and will produce so many cool things to be honest. Any of these: http://ezinearticles.com/?Top-10-Electr ... &id=553232 Or try to go for the world record of an elastic band ball: http://keshar.net/pictures/1066827176RubberBandBall.jpg http://sidesplittingauctions.com/upload ... 764483.jpg You know you want to. :D
JoeDaStudd
I'm really annoyed I threw out my NES... Strange thing was a while back I did look into making a hoverboard, but there wasn't really enough room outside my house to be able to use it enough to warrant the cost. But if the price of the parts keep dropping I might just give it a go. The Pandora looks freaking amazing. Shame about the stock issues. When does the Wiz get released? And hows your dev version holding up Clare? I might just end up converting my room into a mini-cinema. Shouldn't cost more then £300 or so. Still looking for option those so if anyone has an idea feel free to post it. When does the Wiz get released? And hows your dev version holding up Clare? Yep the Pandora is going to be the must have gadget of next year. My Wiz is still really kewl, they have now decided to scrap the current launcher software as the people writing it in flash 3D were having problems. GPH have now updated the Flash version to 8 or 9 and are going with a 2D launcher instead. But of course, you can replace that with your own if you wish :) I got an email from them today saying that they will be sending me a another Wiz next week with updated hardware/firmware and the new buttons so I can beta test the final versions of the firmwares etc. I will let you know what the finished product will be like if you want. Mini Cinema sounds kewl, what you going to be using for the back end, GB-PVR, MythTV? I am currently using GB-PVR but am trying to get MythTV working correctly. I am currently using GB-PVR but am trying to get MythTV working correctly. I've got everything to work with MythTV with the exception of the TV tuner. MythTV works great for ripping and playing DVD's and CD's, but it doesn't seem to support UK analogue TV too well. Plus it turns out I ordered the new "works with Vista" card which is having some issues with Linux. After thinking about the project again I though I would give it another go, so I've repartitioned the drives and split the media from the OS.Then made a new installation the OS but I'm still having a few issues with the TV card. :wall: If I can't fix it by next week I'm moving back to XP. I am trying KnoppixMythTV, I have installed it but haven't had time to configure it yet. I'm a busy girl at the moment with the Wiz, Christmas and a new game I have called Bioshock :D [Assist-X]
JoeDaStudd
I love to see how your experience goes with the Knoppix version. Your a lucky girl 2 free Wiz's. Which reminds me I really need to finish that port. Bioshock is one of those holy **** games. Make sure you install the last patches if your gaming on PC or 360, as you get some new previously hidden powers.
