I am currently getting my mage up to 60, and am working on getting 50 slayer. After that, i was going to buy roughly 400 death runes and 1.2k mind runes and start slayer darting barrows.(The rest of my stats are in my sig). Would I be able to make any money? What should my gear be? I have 400k to spend. I was planning on slayer darting the melee brothers and pray potting the rest of the brothers, maybe just use food on Karil. Is this a good strategy? I really need to do this for mage training and to make money.

Karil hits way harder than Torag/Guthan, and possibly more than Verac. If you're going to tank (recommend at least 70 defence), tank Torag and Guthan. You'll need 70+ melee stats to fight Karil, and 80+ melee stats or 70+ range to fight Ahrim. You'll also want higher prayer.

 

 

 

If you want to tank (which is most efficient) wear Veracs armor. If not then use proselyte/monk's.

Always fight all the brothers. There are safespots in the tunnels but not in the crypts (you can side-step them around the coffins but the brothers are smart and will move after a couple seconds).

But Karil and Ahrim will just hit me through the safespot right? So should i bring some prayer pots and super attack and strength? I figure if i'm bringing prayer pots i wouldn't need a full super set.

You should get your defense, range, and mage up. You want to be able limit your praying to Dharok and Karil - food is much cheaper than prayer pots. You don't need the other pots because you shouldn't melee any of them - just mage the melee brothers, and range Karil and Ahrim.

Alright, i was already planning on getting range up, i have 2k iron knives, and 3.3k bolts banked. What should be my target level, and what should i train on?

I'm not exactly sure how high Ahrim and Karil's range defense is, but I would think you'd want to be 60 ranged at least. You could always go down there and test out how well you hit before trying full runs, but it is pretty risky trying to kill Ahrim without prayer, so if you can't kill him fast enough at 60 ranged, you can always just use prayer against him.

 

 

 

For training ranged, just do slayer. Since you have a slayer goal already, and most tasks can be efficiently ranged, should work out nicely :D

Your best bet is to wear the best melee defense armor you can. The melee brothers have such low magic defense that you can mage them even in full rune/barrows quite easily.

YOur highest level mage gear, I think Mystic would be better than Splitbark here.

 

 

 

EDIT: That's the armor setup you would take if you were praying all the way, so you can maximise your xp. However, I don't recommend taking Rune Armor for tanking, as it's actually way less effective at your level.

Even at 60 mage slayer darting? That would cut my expenses quite a bit, but i find that hard to believe. I don't have mage gear currently so that is a relief if it proves true.

The general strategy with sidestepping is kill the melee bros as fast as possible right? Karil and Ahrim don't require moving of course, just constant prayer.

Ohh, I guess you mean in this case, you're just stepping out to hit? It's a strategy, but I never tried it, and I actually doubt it would work. You would need massive patience. Also note, there is NO SAFESPOT, only sidesteps when you first kill the brothers. AS for the crypts below, there are only safespots in other locations, away from the chest.

Acutally, i'm a little confused right now. I have never seen the barrows area, so i will probably forumulate a strategy when i get there. I just needed help with the prep. Now that i have that, that's really all i needed to know. Thanks a bunch for the help.

There actually ARE safespots in the crypts - however, they don't work all the time. You can get a melee brother caught on the corner of a crypt, but after you hit him a couple of times, he will step out and hit you. It will reduce the # of hits you take, but not by that much, unless you get lucky and the brother doesn't step out. They don't always.
