#1 needs color adjustment, the colors look quite washed away. Try, for a start, brightness/contrast and auto levels. The composition is great though.

 

With #2, the problem is just the opposite. Try to get the sun to the side, partially behind an object if you can, and possibly crop the image a little wider. But the colors are good. :P

Should've added that I didn't manip any of these. =P~

 

Looking directly at the sun added the contrast, which I wanted.

#1. Cute, I must say, but not very artistic. None the less, 8 Squirrels out of 10.

 

#2. I love it! MY only concern is that the sun is not using Rules of The Thirds. It would look so much better if it did.

#1 also seems a tad blurry. It may just be me though.

 

 

 

#2 has got brilliant contrast, and compo but it is boring. There is nothing which sticks out.

 

 

 

You should try taking a photo at -1ev and +1ev and do HDR on it.
