About Quest Requirements -

When it says "For this quest you need level 40 magic" or "For this quest you need level [insert number here] [insert skill here]", what do they mean?

 

Is it possible to start the quest with below needed stats, but not being able to continue when the skill level needed to do something will be too low?

 

 

 

Or is it that it's NEEDED to get the certain level before the quest can be started?

 

 

 

Sorry if I can't test it myself :P. I'm f2p, and I already have the skill requirements for all quests available to me.

I think it may be different for certain quests. I think older quests you could start them but would just not be able to do certain tasks required. But i heard people discussing not being able to start the grandmaster quest under requirements. However they may have been wrong.

If the quest actually involves you using the skill such as to chop a maple log (just an example) then you can use something to boost it if you dont have the actual level.

 

 

 

If you need something like 40 farming just to start it then I think you actually need that level.

well for example -

 

The Temple of Ikov quest, the requirements are level 42 thieving and level 40 ranged. I'm level 3.

 

But to get the boots of lightness, which lowers weight carried by 4kg, technically there isn't any skill required into getting it. Just need to get the quest started in the first place. Can I have level 1 ranged and still start the quest? Even though I'm probably not going to use ranged at all to get the boots.

Also - The Inferno Adze.

 

To get it, you must light 14 beacons, and some of the beacons need some quests started but not necessarily finished. For example, 1 beacon needs Family Crest started.

 

Family crest requires level 40 magic (But again, I'm level 3 =_=) Can I still start the quest to light the beacon? To get my inferno adze?

I didn't think you even needed to start Temple of Ikov to get boots of lightness...you can just go into the dungeon with a light source and a slashing weapon, and pick up the spawn. As for Family Crest, yeah, you only need the magic requirement to complete it, not to start it.

 

 

 

In general, it depends on the quest. Some quests, like rocking Out, don't let you start without the skill reqs. Others, like Fairy Tale Part 2, let you start it and do the quest up until you need that skill level to do something.

Rocking Out and While Guthix Sleeps are the only 2 which require the levels to start.

 

 

 

To make it more confusing you cannot pot up for RO but you can for WGS.

You definitely don't need the ranged requirement to start Temple of Ikov. That requirement only comes into play during a fight later on in the quest. Same kind of thing for the magic level required for Family Crest. You'll need to get your firemaking level way up to get the inferno adze, though. I think it's level 92.
