So I'm looking for a good set of speakers. Currently my budget is ~$200 but I'm willing to wait a week when it'll be ~$400-450. I'll mostly be using them to listen to music, so sound quality is essential. I must also be able to plug them into an mp3 player.

 

 

 

Bear in mind that I live in Australia, so everything is going to be more expensive. I know a couple of websites that sell speakers but their range is kind of limited so if you want to suggest something that they don't sell I'll just do a bit of searching and see if I can find them elsewhere.

Much better range; I can't currently use any of the payment options for this site but if they have good speakers then by all means say so and I'll hunt for them.

I've done a little bit of digging and found that the general consensus is that 2.0 systems and 2 channel amps w/ floor speakers are good for listening to music. What are the differences between the two and how much would I be looking at for a 2 channel amp w/ floor speakers?

if it is the same amp as a guitar amp, then it will have levels and stuff with each, and you will be able to have each at different volumes, overkill tbh, I personally would just go with some speakers with a nice bass, I myself will be getting a set soon, sub broke and speakers seem to be getting worse :?

well, i don't know if newegg ships to austrailia, but i bought a good set of speakers from there the other day, even is mp3 player compatible, you just plug it into the volume remote that sits on your desk.

i have them aswell and are more than satisfied. i got them for $100 Australian at ebay games a couple of years back when they had them $50 off (from $150 originally).

 

there would be better ones out there but you would be struggling to find any better for the price.

 

They don't have a mp3 player plug though
