Send by email for review?

Well i have fire fox with a few tabs open (runescape, highscores, and tif) and while I am sitting on runescape. The highscores

gets redirected to to some ip address and says it s pdf.php file (it sits there as a blank white page). Then this little window

comes up saying send by email for review, and in the text box there is this weird symbol that i am unable to copy which

continues to copy itself in the box. After that a mesage comes up saying something has caused adobe reader to close which is

followed by another message from windows saying this

"What is Data Execution Prevention?

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you."

This happens every few hours and seems to be when the advertisements change. I ran avg and spybot and they say i am fine and everything is up to date (windows, plugins, my browser).

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this, and is this cause for concern?

By the way i am running windows vista

elevenicy, even though I know I won't be the one with the final solution, I must ask a question that will help... Could you post screenshots of what is happening when this occurs, so that we can see in detail what is going on? :-s

Thanks in advance.

I tried to update adobe reader but it says it failed to update, although my problems have stopped. So for now i haven't been able to screen it since it hasn't happened in a while but i will be sure to if it comes up again. Thanks for your concerns though.

By any chance is this what you're seeing? I've been getting this since yesterday and am also trying to figure out what it is. Also using Firefox when it happens, but I haven't had any web pages redirect or the second message you're getting. XP Pro here.

And this is happening AFTER Adobe Reader launches??? If so, I suspect that you both need to scan your computer, just in case there is some hidden malware sticking around. (There may not be, but it is good to play it safe and check anyway.) This seriously looks like someone was trying to exploit a bug in the Adobe Reader software. :?

No, Adobe Reader is not involved at all in my case. No PDF files, I'm just surfing web pages (known, trusted sites) when it happens. I also tried the send by e-mail functions in both Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro, and neither looks anything like this. Reader simply launches the default mail app, and Acrobat Pro has a three-step wizard, like so:

Okay, I take back the thought on it being associated with Adobe Reader then. #-o ... Although, I wonder if someone is trying to exploit a Windows bug/hole... Still, it would be an idea to run those security scans, as you can't be sure it's clean without checking... :-k

This IS an Adobe screen which is why my first response was get Adobe updated. Chances are even if you don't think it's loading a PDF it probably is and Adobe is probably being exploited. If your update doesn't work then uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install the newest version from their website. It was triggered by using the "Send by Email for Review" option available from the "Review & Comment" drop down in Adobe Pro.
