Sorry, but Slayer would be the fastest way.

*Sigh* Slayer is not the god dam answer for everything.

Bandits,

Armored uhh, something, Monkeys or Zombies or what ever.

I go for bandits my self, constant 55k per hour, little attention. It's what I'm doing.

Other people will be able to explain better, there is another thread around posted recently of somebody asking the fastest mellee xp in game, with a few good answers. Try a search.

^55k xp per hour seems pretty low considering you're 97 strength.

Fastest melee xp in the game is zombie monkeys.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Bandits are a terrible choice. Low experience rates and crappy drops. If you want bad drops, just do zombies, much more experience. Or if you are rich, do the dueling arena with d long method. Requires quite a few high level friends but is possible. Also, slayer is faster xp than bandits.

I has herd, that lesser demons, MAY or may not, drop tormented demons. \:D/  :x :D :o  :? 8-)

Due to a typo, I am now stuck with 1k dragon darts and no buyer. Can I has bail out from tip.it plox?

Not true.

Slayer is the BEST way to trian melee stats, mainly cos you're getting slayer XP and a semi decent wage.

The fastest will be something like Dharoks and Gorillias/Zombie Monkeys/DT Skellys.

There not bad, good charms, ok regular drops, potential to get chain (I got one under 1.5k kills), all in all they're not to bad, just alot of clicking. -.-
