Hmm... Wii WiFi Question

Featured Replies

So we got a Wii for Christmas. I set it up in our bonus room, where we have the extra TV and the GameCube. We have a wireless network set up about our house; I'm not sure what the connection rate is, but it's probably average for wifi access...

Anyway searched for the connection with the Wii, it found it, but the connection is slow. This may be for two reasons: The house walls are made of concrete or because this is the first time everything's being used.

Does anyone have ideas for speeding up the internet connection? Short of moving it to the other TV? Also I heard something about an Xbox and connecting it to a router, would that work with a Wii if I went and got one?

I think it's the concrete. You can move the wireless router closer to the Wii, or the Wii closer to the wireless router.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

Don't Wiis have an ethernet port? You could try that if all else fails.

No they don't. They only have USB ports. One thing you can do, however, is getting an ethernet to usb adapter for it from Nintendo.

The weird thing is I have issues downloading stuff from the Wii Shop Channel (gives error related to 'cannot get a good connection') but no issues with system updates/WiiConnect24/weather channel/news channel...

But I think next time I download something I'll have to move it to the other TV... which is also widescreen... ::'

Try relocating the Wii closer to your wireless router. If that fixes the problem, then we know it's a signal strength issue likely caused by solid walls.
