Shouldn't users be allowed to remove posts on their threads

There are some people in the world with a low tolerance for idiocy.

I'm one of them. I'm sure a lot of people here are too.

I don't see why someone should type like a complete idiot and make the excuse that "everyone can read it" or "idc u noob". As long as you proceed to act like a 6 year old monkey with a keyboard, I'll keep correcting and pissing on you for your bad spelling. This isn't directed at necessarily the OP ONLY, but EVERYONE who types like a monkey and can't use proper punctuation/grammar/spelling.

If you can't see the hypocrisy in that statement, you're blind as a bat.

And seriously, you really need to take your social insecurity and keep it off these boards, because it's obvious as daylight that you have some serious issues if you track people down on an internet forum just to tell them that their punctuation sucks.

Lay the [bleep] off.

First, I wasn't talking about your post. I was talking about the OP, how he thinks people can read it so grammar doesn't matter.

And saying I don't have life is a pretty bold statement. I don't track anyone down. They appear broad as daylight on these forums. I call them as I see them.

This topic is just ironic. Hes complaining about being insulted over his grammar and he wants people to excuse him for it.

I'm the type, outside of this entire argument, that hates making excuses. Iv heard rumors of a 'fat gene' that makes people obese. This sickens me. People aren't fat because of genes, its because they eat too much and don't do anything. I'm against making stupid excuses like this. This has the same principle. The whole board shouldn't change because the OP is upset he got flamed over his bad grammar skills. He should take all this time he spent complaining and learn proper grammar. He could have fixed this and avoided this entire topic, but no, we are here. And I hate people making excuses. So I'm going to bash him every retaliation post he makes. He doesn't like it? He can stop posting. Or learn2grammar.

So take your bold insults, and direct them at someone else.

I hadn't posted in this thread before that, so I don't know what you're talking about.

If you knew me in real life, you'd know I hate "fat gene" and crap like that as much as the next person - but that doesn't mean I go to McDonalds and tell every fat person I happen to cross paths there "you suck and cause eyepain for everybody around you, and you did it to yourself, loser. Go join Jenny Craig."

You see, I may dislike lazy excuse making, but I hate self proclaimed "___ police" even more. You logged into McDonalds, so don't act like you didn't know what to expect. Believe it or not, self righteous grammar gripes make you look dumber than some 4chan addict, and seriously, there are better social masks to hide behind than "angry, misunderstood english grad school dropout".

The thread doesn't belong to you - it belongs to the community which is moderated by the staff of this site. Nothing says that users should be able to remove posts on threads they created because staff members are in a much better position to do that than just any old poster.

in a sense the thread does belong to you because your the author thats like saying you wrote a book in real life and published it, it is not your book but the community/ worlds book. <----- the analogy is the response to the statement. to the post before ziero or what ever your name is that has nothing to do with this thread the title =/= mcdonalds rants.

Your posting under tip.it's forum, within its rules, and you have no control over your thread. You cannot suppress ideas you do not agree with, which is what would happen if you could remove posts, and you cannot break the rules. It is not something you have control over.

It's not a book - it's the internet. You can edit something you type on the internet but you can't edit a book. Also, the only thing that belongs to you are your own posts so you can do whatever you like with them. I don't see how a thread would belong to you though. The purpose of editing is to fix mistakes and remove unwanted material. If every player was given the option to edit the posts of others, it would cause more problems than it would fix.

I don't go around policing it.

I call it as I see it.

And like I said, this thread is ironic. If your going to whine about how people yell at you for bad spelling, don't whine about it with bad spelling. Flamebait.

No, you're just flaming for the sake of flaming. You know as well as anybody you aren't "enlightening" people and aren't going to change one damn thing, but you and other grammar nazis just keep doing it, just for the sake of being able to say "haha I'm right, you're wrong, and you suck". Quit trying to sugarcoat it, it's never fooled anybody.

And you want to know what's really ironic? That you get so wound up because somebody posted something that didn't follow every law in your high school English class. Since when did it hurt you? The OP's post was completely legible, even if a couple of the sentences were run-on or missed a period.

It's not bad sentence structure that's hurting this forum's community, it's losers like you (yes, that's a direct burn) that would be forced silent if they couldn't mindlessly attack people because they skipped a comma.

stop with the nazi references I'm sick entire of it im jewish and I DO TAKE OFFENSE TO THAT. use some other term but for god sakes this is a perfect reason of why users should be able to delete posts on threads that they created back up a few comments like i said it does not belong to the community. people share their ideas over the forums its still their property though. sure some people would probably delete any post they didn't like but the main reason for this idea was random grammar trolls like on this thread would have their comments deleted.

I'm going to take a shot to make you all shut up.

Grammar matters. Only in the real world, where writing or typing properly matters its for a job, etc.

If it's understandable, but its for say.. posting an idea on a FORUM that has NOTHING to do with a JOB, and you go all grammar nazi about it, leave, and go back to the [bleep]ing library at school.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Iv heard rumors of a 'fat gene' that makes people obese. This sickens me. People aren't fat because of genes, its because they eat too much and don't do anything. I'm against making stupid excuses like this. .

Two points I'm going to lightly raise about this statement. First of all it's not a rumour that a fat gene can be inherited from either recessive or dominant traits, it's true. Just like you can inherit the trait of genes that determine whether or not your body will not be able to produce insulin and in turn will cause diabetes, some people do not have the same abilities to break down fat at a quicker rate than others, thus causing obesity. In fact, obesity is linked to with diabetes, so people with inefficient insulin production (otherwise known as diabetes), can be suffering from the also called 'fat gene' or obesity.

The second point is that if you're going to go out for every single grammar and spelling mistake out there, you're better off doing something better with your time. Highlighted in your post is a spelling mistake that I've found skimming through your post, and I wasn't going to raise something about it until I saw how irrational you were acting towards sloppy grammar. Rather, I don't want to be pedantic about it yet I'm just showing how we're all human and all of us can make mistakes

You have to keep in mind that not everyone's native language isn't English which may be the cause of the imperfect grammar and language. Also, like others have said - it's the internet. Not a book, not a place where literary geniuses converse, nor a place of essay-like perfection. It's a discussion forum for a fansite of an online game. Although sometimes reading something totally illegible may cause you a headache, it is ultimately your choice that you have chosen to read their post and you can simply leave it and back off. If you give them more time, their typing skills will improve. I'm sure that neither you or me was a perfect typist and grammar guru when you first entered the internet. Your irrelevancy to this topic has lead to much debate, and I hope this post can end the quarrel and get back on track.

For this topic, I really don't think that the reasons the OP has given warrants the ability for themselves to remove their own posts. There's an edit button as others have said and by deleting other user's post it only raises the level of ignorancy to other's opinions if he/she doesn't like what's being said. It should stay the way as it is - and by the way the report button is beside the quote button :P

The OP is an idiot. A few mistakes and abbreviations are ok in-game when you're in a hurry, but this is a forum, and you have all the time in the world. Type your post correctly, or don't post at all. Like someone said before, if you can't be bothered to type correctly, then we can't be bothered to try and decipher your posts.
