Crysanna
One of my Runescape goals is (err was) to acquire all of the summoning pets. It helps me want to train summoning (I hate fighting) and gives me something to look forward to. I recently got 71 summoning for the SOLE purpose of getting an Ex-Ex Parrot only to find out that I have "too many" pets and need to dispose of one in order to get this particular pet. I tried looking around at various website guides (including this one) and could not find any information about a restriction. I did find people on the RS forums ranting about only being allowed 1 pet per 10 summoning levels. Since I have 8 pets already (at level 71), I can see this becoming a problem. By the time I reach 99 summoning, there will be 4 pets that I absolutely cannot have due to this "restriction". I do not want to get rid of my other pets! I have taken the time and effort within the game to grow them into adults and would like to keep them. So what if it kills my bank space? I've had bank space issues for about 4 years now (I'm a packrat) and have always made due, making space when absolutely necessary. I have just come to terms with the fact that I cannot get all of the colours/types of animals and use all 50+ of the God bird eggs that I have been collecting since they came out (which begs another question, why can we only have ONE bird and the eggs are untradeable? At least give us some semi-decent Summoning XP for growing a God bird to maturity so we'd be inclined to dispose of them and use another egg) and now this pet limit thing. :( AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Crysanna
Summoning was made to help people, Not for pets. If it wasn't made for pets, then why do we have pets linked to the summoning skill? Pets do help me with summoning, it makes me want to train what I consider a fairly useless skill in regards to the way I personally play this game. Just like there's a limit to bank space. And a limit to house size. I hate to say 'deal with it', but it's pretty generous (are you ever even going use more then 9 pets?) and I don't see any big reasons to change it. BloodArgon
Do you have pets in real life for the sake of collecting them, and having 50 of them? Maybe if your crazy. The enjoyment is raising it. So ditch an old pet, get the parrot, and maybe later replace another pet with the first one. You obviously have plenty of eggs, so, go ahead. Whats a few less? 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

Zierro
^^ Good point, and since RS is a video game it is appropriate. Anyways, I agree with the ranter. It's really hard to be a perfectionist and play RS at the same time though. That's how I feel about the holiday events that I missed out on. Whats a few less? if in real life, you discard your pets this often, something is very wrong. if not, you've just invalidated your own argument. also i personally do not find the 'raising' phase in runescape to be all that great. and "a few less" would be x-y where x is the initial number of pets, and y is the number of pets afterwards oh right we're supposed to post our opinions, i agree that when you get to 99, and are a supposed master of the skill, you should be able to keep all the pets at once. it really would not greatly hurt jagex, since most people do not collect numerous pets. My point was that in real life, when a dog gets too old, or too much of a problem, you either put it to sleep or give it away. Most of the time, you would get a new dog, usually a puppy. RS obviously doesn't have much of a time scale, so you can pretty much decide when its too old and you get a new one. You can only have one pet out at a time, so why not cycle them? If anything it keeps you busy, trying to raise a new pet. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
ultimatballr
I have to agree with the Rant maker as well. What use does a pet limit server? Whether we can have 1 pet out at a time or 30 (yes I realize 30 would lag the worlds tremendously etc etc. Just using a hyperbole for the sake of the argument). If I want to have all pets (that you could possibly have, i.e. not all 3 god birds at once) then why can't I? It's my bank space and my pets. Just saying. Is there really a need for a limit, would it hurt anyone if there wasn't one? Apparently, my signature was to big.

People in real life don't have too many pets because they simply cannot handle the financing and pampering of several animals at a time. Plus, there is no limit on the amount of pets someone can own in real life.

You can only drive one car at a time too, but many people seem fond of collecting those. also party hats.
