Hacked?

Well i logged in as normal, then 10 minutes later i logged out watching tv (nothing unusual).

 

 

 

When i went to log in, it says my pass is wrong. I've tried at least 20 times, all over the rs website, even told a v good friend my pass to see if it was me but it said the same for him.

 

 

 

Im running a full pc scan right now, and i've sent a password recovery to jagex hopefully they'l lock my acc, but wondering if theres anything morei can do?

 

 

 

p.s On the section it asks in password recovery, it asks for all previous known passwords. I forgott put my Current (what i thought was my current pass) in there, think that will hurt the recovery too much?

I filled out everything but the previously known passwords form correctly for one of my accounts, and they wouldn't recover it; they value previous passwords over everything else, or so it seems. You can't really do anything besides a recovery, though.

Thats what i thought, but im not sure wether it would just slow down my recovery even more doing a new one with my most recent pass.

Also it might not be reasonable to contact jagex they have been shakey with password hacks/scams in the past when you contact them.

I appealed a ban once at 2am GMT, got a response within 5 minutes. Not sure about pass recovery though.

Well, if you had membership on it, a good way to prove it was yours is using information you paid with. If you used a SMS you could use the phone number you put in the box, a credit card, the credit card number, pay by mail, your address or any type of proof that it is indeed yours.

 

 

 

Your right about the UK time, to relieve your anxiety, you could make a new character and add the character that got hacked. If you had a bankpin, your safe for 3 more days. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a while.

Mcafee security centre, usually notifies me even if anything is changing on the comp so im not too sure if i have a keylogger. The scans at 88% now and nothing whatsoever, not even any spyware so really confused.

Rushing it's one of the worst things you can do. If you screw that up, Jagex isn't very likely to do you much good. :? :x :(

Your computer is only as safe as the user. Whether your Anti-virus notifies you or not doesn't really help when you can't identify whether it has a virus attached or not.

 

 

 

Remember to enter your payment details if you don't get it back the first time.

 

Have you played Runescape on any other computer other than your own? You could have accidentally went on a phishing site, but its kind of obvious when you enter one of those.

 

 

 

Go play like reversi or something.

 

 

 

Not sure how this helps, but just relax, maybe you entered the wrong password. Caps lock, your keyboard language got switched. A lot of things could've happened, someone can't kick you if your logged in, so it could just be human error. Get on another account and see if you log in, if you do, talk peacefully to him, DO NOT start a fight, even if he says no or what not.

Yeah its strange, the scan completed nothing whatsoever found. I'd also not downloaded anything whatsoever for a few days, or been to any sites apart from tipit and my normal clan forums :? . Well i'm going to make a new pass and then hopefully things should be fine.

I got hit recently by that link scam that tip.it warned us all about. I filled in about 80% of the info and I got my pass reset within 2 hours. Good luck with getting yours back, would hate to get all your mini-game outfits again #-o

Logged in at the party room with lucky, dfs, torags helm and barrows gloves and fire cape on me because the hacker couldnt put them in the drop.

 

 

 

Estimated loss around 26m

 

 

 

Really frustrating me, ive now realised passwords can be changed IMMEDIATELY with no delay, which is incredibly stupid if you ask me, stopped me getting back onto my account.

 

 

 

 

 

Also incredibly annoying at the state of humans, hacked me for no personal gain whatsoever dumping my items in the party room, wWTF had i done to them?

My scan found nothing, and nobody whatsoever knew my pass from me before today? It wasn't as if it was easily guessable, it was the road i live on's name, not guessable surely.

That's a really dumb password (no offense). Anyone who knows where you live could guess it easily. You need to do a combination of letters and numbers.

hmm well you said you had DF shield, thats still worth alot, I got hacked just before the trading update, my account was kazuma azuma. I lost 2 santa hats and mask set. Still haven't got my account back- your actually quite lucky. You said it's possible to change your password instantly?? How do you do that?

On the account management area (where all you need is your pass which hackers will have). The change password part, it changed instantly, i was sure that it was 3 days and you got a warning, but i can currently change it instantly, with no delay? Semms like a HUGE loophole.

I feel your pain though, I was hacked about 3 years ago. The account had 800 total, f2p, had full rune. Made me quit for like 3 months,(that is huge for a casual f2per, which I was).

 

 

 

Also, I find that the recovery questions make good passwords, coupled with some numbers. Such as your father's middle name, mother's maiden name, just make sure they aren't a recovery question as well. ;)
