I have also just posted this in the RSOF.

Sphere of Progress!

- Intricate reminder system.

Repeatables = Repeatable events such as Distractions and Diversions (Phoenix, Penguins, etc.) and minigames such as Tears of Guthix, defeating Bork and the Jade Vine, and others. Items or abilities that recharge such as Achievement Diary equipment or abilities and stores that sell items in a special way (Arhein; Seaweed, Pineapples) should also be included.

Situated around the minimap ingame there should be several different tabs depending on what you've unlocked in the way of repeatable events. These tabs should have distinctive symbols on them (although still retaining a fairly small size) and when clicked they should act in a similar way as the ingame quest and Achievement Diary interfaces work.

The information in the tabs when clicked should include EXACTLY when you can attempt the task again,

where the task is (the circus moves, so it only really matters for that one),

what progress has been made in the task if it has multiple steps (finding Penguins - a list of general locations and they become marked off as you find them, for example),

and a way to keep track of whether you are eligible for events that you've unlocked (thinking of Tears of Guthix mostly - you must gain a certain amount of Quest Points or XP per week to play it). Managing Thy Kingdom should be included as well as the current percentage of respect that you have.

The tabs themselves, aside from all this, should flash a different color when you're able to do them again, and depending on preferential settings set by the user, should also remind you as soon as you're able to do them again by pulling out/extending a little bit and flashing.

  • 2 weeks later...

The MTK thing seems too...overpowered. Or something. But it would defeat part of the NPC contact. Maybe instead of an exact percentage, it would be a "guesstimate", where it would say if its under a percentage in increments of 10. (100%, 90%, 80%, 70%).

This all would work better as a item perhaps, a 'journal'. The map idea would be too clutter, and wouldnt make sense. (How do you always remember what your times are?)

Have a new journal item, buyable from maybe a diaries person, and if you take it to the said events when you do them, you could "write" (the game does it for you) down times and the information above, and allow the guesstimate thing for the MTK.

Although I can see what you're saying about NPC Contact and MTK, I don't agree that the entire thing should be an item. If it were an item that you have to carry around with you, that defeats the purpose (other than organization) in my eyes. Perhaps rather than cluttering around the minimap, it could just be a tab that you click on underneath the minimap that drops down and has a rectangular list with icons that you can hover your cursor over in case you forget what they stand for.

I support.

How about making it a tab in the quest window?

So you'd have: Quest/Achievement/Tasks

-Collect Sand

-Collect Flax

-Defeat Bork (Completed: Daily)

-Penguins: 5 points

-etc

Omali's got the right idea. Repeatable events would comfortably sit next to the Quest/Diary star. Maybe make it a purple star? It would also help to make this a map symbol as well, like the Diary start points.

For MTK, you shouldn't get any percentage value, only a rough time since you last did anything to do with MTK, to the nearest 15 minutes. You should be told the percentage if you're standing in Miscellania/Etceteria though. Basically, if you can't get some information outside of the area where the event is situated, it shouldn't be put in the 'Repeatable Event Journal' unless you're already there.

What of Bork? Or the Phoenix? I don't agree with that; you should be told when you can go again.

I'm fine with it becoming another icon like you're talking about, though...

The color should be yellow, like the Distractions and Diversions.

I never said it wouldn't tell you when you can go again. In theory, you could work out the exact time a repeatable event will become available without it, by, for example, just heading over to Bork at 7:30 pm exactly each day. Something should flash, I agree about that, it's just that the positioning could be changed so it's less obtrusive when it's not doing anything.

Maybe you're right, they are more like D&Ds than anything. Yellow star it is, then!

Maybe you should rephrase that last part? :S
