I'm looking for a device that would measure how far away a concentrated amount of diffracted Infrared light would be in something that has total internal reflection. And possibly some software that can take the values of said device and plot it on a graph/map. I know asking for this is.. Well pretty much a long shot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Diffracted light is when something has total internal reflection, and something interferes with that reflection to cause light to disperse.

 

I kind of got my words messed up last night. I mean where the most diffracted light would be, not the distance. because if I have an x and y axis, I don't really need to know the distance.

there is a youtube video where a guy made one by using a piece of glass, and LEDs which emit infrared light on the sides, and a camera to detect where the total internal reflection was broken by a finger touching the screen...

Thanks smapla. I have actually seen that video, which made me think of an even better way to do it which does not require a projector, and doesn't require a camera under it. But I think I can get a few very small cameras, take them apart, and place them on the side of the acrylic. I basically just have to write the program that detects which camera has the most concentrated amount of diffracted infrared light
