Smithing gold: Superheat or smelt

I want to get to 70/73 smithing from 59. I'm pretty sure smithing gold with gauntlets is a good way to do it, but I don't know if I should superheat or smelt in a furnace. I want to know which method is the most cost efficient. So, my questions are:

Does anybody know about the exp/hour rates for these two methods?

Any idea on which one I should use if I make ~350k/hour and gold ore is 505 gp each?

What is the closest furnace to a bank in p2p?

I'm also open to any other suggestions on how to raise my smithing 59-73.

Thank you in advance

The closest furnace bank would either be the one on Neit or the one in Port Phasmatys.

While superheat would be slightly faster, it does require a lot more clicking. If you're really committed to it, this would be the way to go. It'll be extremely costly with the extra nat, but you'll get a nice chunk of magic xp while you're at it.

If you're going to take a more laid back approach, simply smelting it isn't a whole lot slower yet it takes a lot less attention.

the best way would be play stealing creation, when you get enough points buy a few morphic tools adn turn them into a hammer and smith iron, you get double exp and the hammers give 32k exp ea, i can manage a good 50k exp an hour with plates, for 2k bars youll get 100k exp

or you can superheat mithril bars for about .4gp/xp which is about 30k xp/h (i did it and now have 69 smith/70 and im f2p)

1100 total achieved 03/02/09 880thousandth to reach it :P

1200 total achieved 29/09/11 1.23millionth to reach it :P

closest furnace is in edgeville, but just take note that u need 2 be wearing varrock armor to get in there

Recently Demoted to F2P, now getting 99 attack via giant spiders

Well, the closest furnace would be edgeville, but I find that furnace extraordinarily annoying considering you have to open this door that only one person can go through at a time. The next closest would be the furnace on neitiznot or port phasmaty's. There are both a similar distance from a back, and the time difference would be minimal, but I would go with the one on neit, because it has a one click bank there, which is pretty nice after smithing for a while.

How many morphic tools can I get per hour of stealing creation? Also, what is the best item to make from iron that sells? Knives?

Now that I've searched a bit more I've learned that smithing gold on a furnace is 55-60k/hour with 500k gp loss per hour, so gold wouldn't be much worse and would require much less attention. I might still superheat addy 70-73.

I'm still looking for an estimate on the exp/hour rate on superheating gold ore. I'm not finished with Family Crest so I can't test it myself.

generally its 3 an hour you get 20-26 points a game with a score of around 30k, so thats in the long run 86k exp an hour over 3 hrs youll get 10 hammers tho coz the excess points,

um there is an item you can gain on but requires a lot of sell 50 sell 50 sell 50 and that is iron nails they consistantly sell for 16 gp at the saw mill but yes iron knives is your next option and i heard mith bolts are good not 100% sure maybe do some research

So:

3 hours spent for 10 hammers

(32kexp/hammer * 10 hammers) / 50k exp/hour = 6.4 hours spent on smithing

Exp/hour rate: (32kexp/hammer * 10 hammers) / (3 hours + 6.4 hours) = 34042.6 exp/hour

320kexp / 50exp/bar = 6400 bars

Money per hour with iron bars at 252gp each and iron knives at 34gp each

((5knives/bar * 6400bars * 34gp/knife) - (6400bars * 252gp/bar)) / 9.4 hours = -55830gp/hour

The smithing rate was from iron plates so I'd probably get less than 34k exp per hour with less than 56k loss per hour. I guess it's a good way of training if you really like the minigame, but with the numbers you provided it barely beats superheating mith in exp/hour for smithing whereas superheating also gives magic exp.

Does anybody have exp/hour and exp/hammer info on mith bolts with sc hammers?

Rao.png

It gives an equivalent of 641 mithril bars worth of xp. Blast furnace incidentally is around 45-50k an hour while providing profit.

When are trying to lend something, the word to use is borrow. Not barrows, which is a mini-game.
