Hey, im new to being a member on runescape but recently, my friend was hacked. he said that a guy from another world who claimed to be a moderater, messaged him to log off and threatened to band him if he didnt comply. worried about losing his account, he listened and when he tried to log back on, someone was already logged in. my friend immediatly changed his password and as soon as the hacker logged off, got back on and noticed that half of his stuff was missing. he was lucky to be able to get his account back. i was wondering if anyone can give me any tips on how to avoid anything like this happening again. how can you tell if a person is a mod if they are not in your world. i dont want this this to happen to me. plz help me. :ohnoes:

Mod's will almost never ask for account details, and if they do you immediately report them... If you don't receive something through the runescape messaging system, be hesitant about it, it's probably fake.

Firstly, moderators will never, ever, demand your info. If they do, then they will be a bias player mod, simply report them. Player mods can only mute you at worst, and Jagex will review their mutes and un-do them if they are unjust.

Secondly, you can identify player mods from another world because they will STILL have a silver/gold crown next to their name when they PM you. If they don't have it, report them and put them on ignore.
