I found a picture just like it and I was wondering if it was considered cheating in anyway if you have the picture?

:( I thought he was better a better artist than this. Using it as a reference is fine, but after a quick check in PS, there is no doubt that this is an obvious trace. Almost everything lines up exactly with the picture.

Tracing is just bad, whether or not you own the rights to the photo.

It still looks amazing :)

Paste them both into the same window, and align them at the correct spot, then hide/unhide the top one... You'll see what I mean when I say obviously traced. :(

yeah i did the same thing basicly lol. opened one in a window, the other in another window, so it was directly ontop of each other :P

'tis was definitly traced =P

Nadril, I wouldn't exactly call that the same thing. Pasting it in as a layer in the same image shows ....uncanny matching. Down to the hairs almost.

I will be gone most of the day, but if I see him on messenger I will let him know about this topic. Or someone could pm him. At least the man deserves a chance to defend himself.

yeah, it wouldn't work as well, but i can switch very fast. so when i switch back and forth and see everything in the exact same placement  ...

yeah.

I just ALT+Tab'd the windows and I have come to the same conclusion....

And for tracing, that's a pretty crappy job.

Phalanxe says he's quit these boards and doesn't want to make a big deal out of this, so I'm posting this for him:

Phalanxe says:

I guess what it comes down to is, yes, I sketched over the kitten photo. But after having the initial sketch, it was all by looking at a printed out reference.

Phalanxe says:

The only reason I sketched over was because it was for a competition, and I wanted it to look perfect
