p5hngmeawy19
Although it is supposed to give a +3 stat boost to firemaking, and i am level 72, i still can't light a magic log. why is this?
SomeWelshGuy
It is an invisible boost. This increases your chance of doing something (e.g. getting fish faster, getting logs faster), but does not allow you to do anything higher than your base level. Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper. Is that the definition of invisible boost? What about the crystal saw? It boosts, but DOES allow you to craft higher level items...and it's not a visible boost. It doesn't seem to make much sense...higher levels (especially only a +3 level boost) doesn't make THAT much of a difference...so why have an "invisible boost" at all? cat666
The FM boost is the most pointless in game. Once you start one fire you can make a full inven at same speed, regardless of level and regardless of logs. It's only if you leave it too long to light the next fire does the boost come into play. Use a forager instead. Trust the Gene Genie!

You don't catch fish THAT much faster and you don't make fire that much quicker....or longer. I have used familiars in Woodcutting (beaver) and Fishing (ibis/granite lobster) and found the invisible boosts make it that little bit quicker. 3 levels makes all the difference. Plus those familiars forage you stuff, netting you more cash. Trust the Gene Genie!
