fireside8
So I've been reading that clans buy out items and control high level items? 1. How exactly does this work, and what can jagex do to fix it. Can someone giv me an example of what they do.. is it like for say, they buy all the dragon armor at high price to drive the price up, then put it back forsale at high price? 2. How qickly do the prices rise in the GE? is it by day or by hour, and is there a price cap? DOWN WITH CARTELS!
Danqazmlp
Put simple, they buy as many of an item as they can afford at max price, which makes the item rise in price, which then makes other people try to buy the item thinking they can make a quick buck. The clan will then sell their stock of the item at max while other people are still trying to buy them, making a profit. The con is that alot of stupid people who try to run along with this end up losing money when the price crashes to lower than they paid after the item is dumped by the clans. How to stop it? Educate people into not panic buying without knowing what they are buying into. Want to be my friend? fireside8
Thanks ALSO, I see someone bumped the other cartel thread, so I gotta read that to learn more. But, how quickly do prices rise... I mean 500% is insane profit ... Not fair to the rest.

Those players earned enough money to put them at a point where they can use that money to make even more faster. That's typically how things work, the more money you have - the more money you can make. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, applies here incredibly well (rich merching the items, poor losing out on the items) Want to be my friend? fireside8
One more question please. How does an item freeze or become unsellable? Does this mean you can't exchange it in the GE at all, or that the price is so high no one will buy it. THanks

THanks The G.e works and updates on complted trades only and not on waiting offers, so an item becomes frozen when an item is either set at a much lower price than it should be and nobody is willing to sell on g.e, or if an item's price is set too high and nobody is willing to buy for that price. As well as that, many items have price floors and caps, a minimum and maximum price it can go. Want to be my friend? BLASTID If you are asking the question why do people want Runescape money and wealth, you might as well be asking "Why play Runescape?" -.- People want money to get good items to benefit themselves in game. Nothing to do with real life whatsoever, so please do not say we are all wasting our time by playing this game. mister_moocky
1) You and your clan buy up as many of X items as they can. 2) Supply is strangled with an increase demand, so the price rises. 3) Once price is high enough, everyone dumps X item right after the ge updates. (getting someone to make one thread on the rsof saying selling 1 of X item max ge is a good idea, you'll get other merchanters to pounce on it, buying more items, just don't do it too regularly) 4) Other merchanters, and people who actully want the item buy it. 5) After 1 or 2 updates the price well plummet and people scramble to try to sell theirs and cut their losses. It's lame, and organized manipulation just leads to a "race to dump." quit
