The ZMI altar is located underneath some ruins south of Ardougne. There's a bank there, but it requires 20 of 1 type of rune to use so most people recommend using lunar spellbook to tele to a bank and then tele back to ourania/ZMI altar. Crafting runes at the ZMI altar gives double xp, but you get random runes so it's hard to make a profit, yet alone break even. At higher runecrafting levels you'll get more of the higher level runes.

I'm not much of a pro rcer, but I'd recommend using dueling rings to craft fires until 44, then using the abyss or graahks to craft natures until 70. If you have high defense you could also use the abyss to craft laws.

LOL. This could take a while.

Zmi until 91 and then double nats with a graahk is the best efficiency.

Well actually steam runes are faster xp before level 70-ish at ZMI, but it's costly. I would go for the above if you want the best xp possible. Even after 91, ZMI is the best xp, but the money from ghraaks outweighs that.

I don't have 57 summoning for the graahk... and I'm not entirely sure how zmi works. Could you explain please?

No one has really explained this yet so I will try.

Basically you take a load of pure essense (normal will not work) to the ZMI altar. You can take 1 of 2 paths, the first being long but safe, the other being shorter but you will be attacked by all 3 points of the combat triangle. There is an altar though so you can pray to reduce damage, plus the melee ones are the only ones over the whole path so you can swap between mage/range prayer.

When you craft there you will get double XP per rune made, however the rune you get is random. You can craft runes over your level so nats at level 20, but it's all luck. The higher your rc level, the more higher runes you will get. I forget the exact level you start to profit but it's around the 60's. Before that you will lose out.

Best way to access it is via Lunar Magic and then you can Lunar Isle teleport to bank, saving all runes. Otherwise there is a bank there, but it costs 20 runes (180gp per run) to use.

OK, so I'm also going for 70, and I was wondering, should I switch to laws at 54? I don't care about money much, but I would like to break even.

ZMI or Graak are the only 2 realistic options these days unless you have a load of runecrafting tabs.

Laws are just too slow to warrant doing solo anymore, and since the demise of free trade fast free laws have ceased trading. Just make enough for personal use then stick to nats.

Abyss is also an option, but again is slow XP compared to both ZMI and Graak.

+1, although I'd like to say again that Steam Runes ARE an option. They may be costly and have high requirements, but they beat the hell out of ZMI and Ghraak for xp at lower levels. If you have 82 magic, Lunars, and a little money, it's worthy of consideration.
