I was mad when jagex took out the video adverts, because I want free play to be as good as it can be, and adverts are the only way to push it closer to what you get in members.

 

I wouldn't even mind if they interrupted the game every 30 mins. with a 15 sec. advert as long as they gave you a 2-3min countdown timer for the advert like they do for updates, but only if they put the revenue to bettering free play, and they would have to to keep their free players.

 

Looking at the other extreme without any adverts in free play they might have to limit the time you can play in free play. In that extreme free play would only be about promotion, since they would lose a lot of revenue from it.

Less than 7% of their revenue is by f2p. Of that, how many do you think are from video adverts?

I found the ads awful. I don't want them to make us click ads by cramming it down their throats. Ads like this are right up there with flooding a page with ads. Interrupting my gameplay and making me wait before I play did not make membership appealing to me, which is where more of their money comes from.

 

 

 

I seriously disagree.

I understand that nothing is really free, and developers have to generate revenue from somewhere even if its just server and maintanence costs, more adverts = more revenue = better products when "free" products are concerned.

I doubt it'll ever be as high as 20%.

 

 

 

Where'd you read that? If it was on the newspost I must've missed it.

I was only speculating & it could get that high with aggressive adverts assuming that they don't lose to many free players to it.

 

 

 

If the adverts would make jagex lose too many players to generate more revenue than I'd have to except defeat.

Well also remember part of the money they get is per click. I bet a lot more people click the banner ads than vid ads. Most of the vid ones are for funorb games anyway.

i never understood the f2p video clip ad...the only one i ever saw was for ARCANISTS

you COULD have put a REAL ad and made money by forcing people to look at it but whatev...

I just think they should cram the sides and the lower part of the pages with advertisements and use that income on members

I didn't care much about the video ads I am kind of glad that I dont have to wait 15 seconds, but it was only once a day and when it makes jagex more money I think they should have kept them exept getting rid of the funorb ads because those cant make money for jagex if jagex is paying jagex to advertise it

I think the 10 second video advertisement is quite silly and rather annoying. I really hope they never come back.

Go ahead and show me 1 video advertisement each time I load the first page. If that's what it takes for me to be allowed to play F2P, so be it. BUT, I don't want any of this nonsense of a video advert for each time I hop worlds. I've already seen your video advert, thank you very much.

Its lost time to me anyway - just as long as I can login in the minimum amount of time.

So, this is all based on the assumption that the more income that F2P generates, the more updates it'll receive? Assuming that statement is true, I still do not support your idea. If a mere 10 second ad after logging in turned away enough F2P players that Jagex removed the ad, then having an ad interrupt gameplay every 30 minutes would be even worse. Though, assuming that the amount of income F2P generates is equal to how many updates it'll receive then yes, I agree with sees_all1.

I hate those vid ads. Prefer the taking those ads out then making f2p better. :D
