Fading Habitat

Featured Replies

Here is todays. It was not quick at all. This was painstaking to get the can right.

It is called Fading Habitat. 100 percent air brush, no reference on the fairy, reference on the can.

Oo pretty, I don't know what to say as I'm not a frequent visitor to the media forums... So I'll give it 7/10 and I'll smile. :D

Everyone get's 9/10 as standard, nothing is perfect.

Minus one for the background, it really isn't one. Chris likes backgrounds.

Minus one for painstakingly drawing a diet coke can... Why didn't you just scrunch up a can, sit it down, take a pic and airbrush over it? :P

Also are fairies really that small?

I kinda thought all fairies were the size of tinkerbell from peter pan, at least the ones I see are.

Thanks for the critique.

Here are a few thoughts on why I did things the way I did.

1. It is a background. It is a cold, non-natural environ symbolizing modern reality

2. diet coke....a further step down the reality road....industrialized people get fat, have to drink diet coke.

3. Why didn't I take a picture and paint over it? Because that would hardly be air brush practice, or a daily sketch, which is what this was.

wow.....thats awsome lol..10/10

10/10 on the idea.

8/10 on the picture itself....

pretty much what cris said.

the farie doesnt seem to fit within the picture.

Incidentally..I suppose fairies could be any size.

8/10 for the pic

Amazing, nice your you did.

Heh, I didn't say I didn't get it :P

I just don't like diet coke and the background although portraying the mood, is a bit bland.

Oh yeah and brushing over a pic to make it easier was just me being lazy. :)

I'm the sort of person that'd cheat at anything as long as it made it easier.

Good stuff.

Honestly, not sure there is much to get If you read the daily sketch thread you would realize that I did the work for a daily sketch, and just stuck the fairy in there to make it fit because I wanted to paint a can! haha. I actually like the can by itself better. The reason I picked a diet coke can was because it had an angle I liked, an I wanted to try lettering, but not a lot...as I am not good at it.

The other just sounded good later . I wonder how many times we do that with real art.

Besides, what kind of title would "can" be?

And here is the fairy at a larger size. I like it, but just not quite the same as the can, especially given I didn't use reference.

Am I judging the brushing or the overall piece? I think the can looks great, and could use some refining. I think overall you should crop some of the bottom off and add some more to the top. I don't like how empty it is at the bottom. Looks good though. :)
