March 9, 200917 yr I was thinking about going for 99 Farming (70 at the moment) and I was wondering.... How much does it cost? What should I plant? How long will it take (together with waiting time)? Thanks :D
March 9, 200917 yr Slow and steady, it won't cost you a penny, you'll actually profit. Medium pace (putting all your money back into it), you'll break even. Fast, you'll lose a lot (depends on your method/purchases). March 9, 200917 yr I'll assume you want to break even and that you're already 72 farming (you're close anyway). If you want to spend money, just plant more expensive trees. 5 pineapple trees - 70k loss (pay the farmer) 10 maple trees - 280k loss (pay the farmer if you can be bothered to collect payment, unbuyable on g/e) 1 calquat tree - 25k (pay the farmer) Snapdragon herb run - total of 92k profit at current prices (79k from herbs, 6.6k from cactus spines, 6k from marigolds) This will get you 84k farming experience a day if you do a total of 4 herb runs a day (which is pretty easy to do), and you will lose a total of 7k. Estimated time needed every day: around 35 minutes.
March 9, 200917 yr They're only slightly more expensive, so yes, if you want to pay more you should plant them.
March 9, 200917 yr If you calculate the gp/xp for trees and fruit trees you will see that the most expensive fruit tree is a similar cost to a maple tree (payment costs included). This means that you should always use the best fruit tree you possibly can. It is your choice as to what you want to spend on trees, but as of last month, yews & magic trees were the same gp/xp with payment costs included. Although, be aware that these trees are 2-3x the gp/xp as even the most expensive of fruit trees. I personally like to farm the most expensive fruit tree along with oaks. I just don't use a payment with the oaks. Lately I have been getting rid of a stockpile of orange saplings, though - so when I end up with 3k~ oranges I plan to switch to maple trees. With the most expensive farming method using only trees/fruit trees/calquat I believe it will take about 2 months for 99 farming from your level with 1 tree run per day. Although this costs somewhere around 100M if I remember correctly. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

If you farm a papaya tree and a maple tree, you'll get 9.9k xp for 63. It is true that normal trees are more expensive (in gp/xp) than fruit trees, but for both kinds of trees the price goes up exponentially. So, it's better to farm two less expensive trees than 1 expensive and 1 cheap tree.

I never even mentioned costs, just that it is what I like to do. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

March 9, 200917 yr I have an excess amount of oak saplings from when I was a lower level, and I don't care to drop them so I am using them. I don't find it to be "illogical" to free my bank space and get some farming experience on the side. This isn't the place to discuss this, though. March 9, 200917 yr a friend of mine did it all the way with palm trees and spirit trees(the spirit seeds he got from MTK: he had like 26 of them). It is fast and if you do snapdrag running at the same time you wont lose that much money.
