If they changed your name they would have to be fair and accept every name change request, which would be a hassle.

That's all I really care about; say what you want about postcount, but I think it represents the amount of time one has invested in the community. If I could get that transfered, I could simply move my sig\avatar over from the banned account and finally use my real name :P

That requires tons more work than just changing your username :P And the answer is still no. And we do not ban accounts on request.

Omg I had to make a new account to post this because my account was banned for no reason! I let my brother on for a couple of minutes yesterday, did he do something bad? It wasn't me I SWEAR!

Banning an account, changing any records, getting your new account made, and then changing the post count is more work than just changing a username and then changing records.

Indeed it is wishful thinking. If we made an exception for you, we'd have to accept every single other request and the admins can't waste their time changing peoples' usernames (or post counts).

Adding a five dollar fee would screen out most of the requests and make for a nice little profit. Changing post count can't take that long :shock:

I'm just asking if it's technologically feasible to change a users postcount easily (and thus skip the whole 'updating records' part). Let me know if you know, I might make a suggestions thread if it is. It all relates to his original post, so I don't think it counts as a full hijack :lol:

The updating records is for keeping track of switching accounts. So if someone has a history of offenses or Tip.it Forum Rule violations, we need to make note of their new account so we know who they are. But yes, if I remember correctly, I believe you can easily change a user's post count but I'm not 100% sure. It's been a few months since I've poked around the Tip.it Admin Control Panel :P

Yep, just read up on it, and the function ships with PHPBB3. I can see what you mean about previous offenses, perhaps make it exclusive to those without a record? I don't think my "sig violation" counts, having fixed it on my own :P

 

 

 

I guess I'll make a post about it later in suggestions and see how it floats with some of the admins.

Yeah, I remember wanting to change my username a while ago (for private reasons, not just wanting my username to match my rsn). I just made a new account instead :lol:
