The range xp isn't quite as good, but you're getting charms to make up for that. :) also would arma or full void be better chining? For nechyraels, void. However, their rates are very low (in particular Gargoyles), and since Dark Beasts take such a long time to kill, they are not worth killing either. They are great money but not necessarily worth the time it takes to get the level.
