First time posting new sigs in months =)

Quit rs a long time ago but stayed on the forums particularly the media section. I then took a break for a long time but I've been keeping up with sig making so I'll post my most recent ones. :) (these were not made for these forums so the file size is too large)

Step 1: Wipe a few premade abstract burshes over a 350x120px canvas

Step 2: Paste in a premade render from google

Step 3: Add text in right of canvas, make semi transparent and [wagon] same bevel to all

Step 4: Type in a lame slogan using a pixel font.

-Done-

All your sigs are the same, shows no originality and what little work you did at all (background) is covered up by the render and text.

Oh yeah and they are all oversized. *sigh*

Step 1: It wasn't on a 350 x 120 canvas

Step 2: Not a premade render. I watched the anime and made renders from screenshots myself. Only render I took from google was the colt .45. Oh and your "crappy sig" that's what you call it right? You did absolutely nothing to the render.

Step 3: Not semi transparent text, it's a dual layer text.

Step 4: Probably your most accurate of all, depends on the viewer so in your eyes it's lame.

So overall about your sig, you took the premade render from somewhere. You did absolutely nothing to it, you didn't make it look more like a render rather than a grainy image of one. You didn't highlight any parts of it, you just stuck it in there. There also is no blending at all and the colors don't fit. Put some more effort into your so-called "crappy" sig like 10-15min instead of 5-10 and see if you can do better than what you just made.

Oh btw, thanks for noticing they are all "oversized". I already stated that in my first post so there is no need to point it out, I didn't make these sigs for these forums so what's the big deal about them being "oversize"?

Oh and wipe a few abstract brushes on a canvas? How else would you make a background? If you can't "wipe" them over a canvas... how do you suggest I do it then?

Oh and I don't make my own brushes because frankly, I don't have the time and I actually don't really know how to do it.

Yeah, and that all counts for nothing when it turns out that something it took him a few minutes to do, ends up better than yours. That's the point he was trying to make, I'd imagine.

Well I guess all that I said meant nothing but "crap" to a person who only makes pixel sigs I assume? (not that I'm insulting pixel sigs in anyway, but if you don't do abstract, you shouldn't be the one criticizing)

Why are you posting about whether he is better or not? It has absolutely no relevance here and you're just one of those common people jumping on the bandwagon.

I don't know how good Mercifull is, I would not doubt for a moment that he was far better because I have little time to do such things, I'm actually not allowed. Maybe that explains why he said it seemed like I spent 5-10 minutes when it seemed like an eternity to me because I had to do part of a background one day, the text another, finish it another day etc..

But what I don't need to hear is from someone who likes to show up other people and thinks he is an all-mighty gfx designer. Mercifull could have put it in a much better way, and I definitely did not gain anything from reading what he wrote except making it look so simple (and maybe it is). So what I did was elaborate on that, it really is how I did it, not some simple copy and pasted premade render.

So please, I don't need a sense of animosity from people when commenting on what I've done. Fair enough, I made progress but apparently slow progress from what Mercifull said. Every sig designer has a style, and that's my style so obviously it gets repetitive.

Even though Mercifull could have put it in a much better way, it's still a comment to me. I'll see if I can get rid of that boring style and come up with something creative.

As for this post, it's quite lengthy but that's only because I have problems loading the page. It takes minutes sometimes for an unknown reason.

Oo, I was reading all this topic, oyu guy said almost everything. Yeah Mercifull did way better than Chounin, and took about 5-10 mins, lol, I am not as good as he, it would take me a bit more

Nothing more special to add. Good luck

Ok heres a non bad mood/cc version of why I was trying to say earlier

I dont think you are bad or a rubbish sig maker, what I was saying was that they are a bit to repetetive and follow the same pattern of working. I know thats proably your style but it lacks originality. You can still have a style without everything looking the same.

Photoshop is a great program, its what I use. Its by far the most powerful photo/graphic design package for most people, but people dont use it to its full effect. I'm not a big fan of pixel work and most vector is pretty rubbish so its proably best if you stick with abstract but there is a lot you can do to improve.

Take out the renders and images, they ruin the piece. The background is pretty good and while perhaps a little plain right now its still the part of the sig that shows off your skill. The render is just poor and really looks just stuck on. I'm not a big fan of anime either (apart from outlaw star) so I'm proably a bit bias when it comes to anime renders in sigs too. lol

As for the pixel font quotes, they're not really lame just unneccesary. The problem with them is that they don't relate to the signature. Some of them sum up the expression of the rendered character but it all looks copy and pasted and makes the signature look very amateurish. I dont think putting it under the main text of the sig is a good idea. The one you did of the beach landings boat is better in that the slogan is in the corner of the piece. Its purposely not just a gap filler and looks much better

The text is ok but again is very samey. You've done the same effect really on all the signatures. Its come out very well on some pieces such as the brown/orange naruto one but not so well on the green boba fett one.

try some different effects and ways of blending theres so many fonts out there thats good for abstract signatures. try and go for something a bit more unique.

Ok now your backgrounds are good but they still fall on the beginners category because they are all pretty much the same colour and have no focal point. The one you did for Dominca is definitly an improvement with a few shades of colour but try adding a few more colours relevant to the mood of the piece. You'll want blacks and reds and oranges for a hellish signature and subtle pinks and blues and greens for a happy friendly piece. Try and make some kind of focal point to the signature. Instead of the render make a really bright perhaps even white area, and thats where you put your text. The text and abstract background will replace the rubbish pictures you currently have and it should all look so much better.

I would post a few example but i'm at work right now and only have photoshop 5 and It cant do bugger all lol. If you want any example of what I mean or any more questions let me know and ill have a go answering.

Thanks for the suggestions Mercifull.

I'll spend some time putting some more color into my sigs and I might post a newer one to see if I made any progress at all.

_k0m0d0_: I know your comment was sarcastic and all but I'll treat it like you meant it.

I'll be on my way then :)
