Drop Rates

Recommended Posts

I recently heard some things I doubt are true.

1. Your drop is also calculated by the ammount of monsters you already killed. So if you got bad drops the last kills you get a better chance of a good drop in the next kills, e.g. godwars.

2. Drop rate of whip is calculated by the grand exchange price. When the grand exchange price goes up the whip drop rate goes down and vice versa.

Seems like nonsense to me. Would be cool if you have any source for this or some strong evidences. =)

Both not true.

What could be meant with the first however is the lootshare system.

The lootshare system keeps track of the items you got and the items others got to make sure it all levels a bit eventuall to make it fair.

In other words: If someone else in your lootshare party recieves an armadyl hilt your chances of receiving the next armadyl hilt drop while you are lootsharing are improved. (This does NOT mean that it will drop faster, only that if it drops the chances that you are the one getting it are higher.)

The second is just not true.

No, I don't mean the lootshare system. It's just the people in the cc im currently are in say these things and also say others have the same experience (and they are no noobs).

A better way to put it would be: When someone in your cc gets an armadyl hilt with lootshare, your chances of receiving the loot of your team's next few kills is higher.

It does not matter whose cc it is and it does not matter whether you change clanchats or log out in between.

If you log out after someone you're lootsharing with gets a hilt and then log back in a day later and go gw with some other team you'll still have the boost so you'll be receiving a lot of the drops.

What a joke. Complete bunk perpetrated by uninformed idiots who see something happen once and immediately think it's some sort of secret, complex pattern. That's even worse then the 'faster IP' castle wars people.

It is neither complex nor secret.

How does the LootShare system ensure 'fairness'?

When an item is dropped, its value is calculated using the Grand Exchange. Each player is given a 'virtual' share of that value in LootShare points. The system then chooses a player to receive the drop. The system looks at the points for all players in the group and whoever has the most LootShare points stands the greatest chance of getting the drop.

The person who gets the drop then 'pays' for the drop in those same points, thus reducing the chance that player will get the next drop. So, if someone else in your group gets a valuable drop, your LootShare points and chances for the next drop increase a lot. If they get a less valuable drop, your points increase by less.

These points are stored from game session to session, but they will tend towards zero by a percentage every day.

He was talking about the OP's ideas. How lootshare works is common knowledge.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

The difference is, the IP thingy is true.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

All skills 80+

The droprate is entirely random.

Random meaning, there is no special calculation - just a list of possibilites and odds.

@Above, probably referring to IP advantages. Wont go into detail, I don't know enough about it. :-# :)
