Profitable allotments?

If you get about 18 fruits per allotment, every seed but watermelons will give you a profit, strawberries being very little profit.

Marigolds will add an additional 12k profit to your run; use super compost. But don't do marigolds if you're planting allotments: plant white lilies instead, so you don't have to pay the farmers to watch your crops.

^Wouldn't 12k pay for the occasional plant death? I'm guessing that payments cost more than the profit from marigolds.

Yes you should grow marigolds and of course you should use supercompost.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

When you work up to white lily seeds, you don't have to worry about allotment death and you can stop figuring crop mortality into your profit/loss analysis.

Sweetcorn are nice, 600 per seed (3 per crop) crops sell for ~100 each.

I normally get about 14 per patch (taking into account death, I average 100 per run). So its a very small loss for a nice chunk of exp.

Strawberries are a much bigger loss and you never break even (with sweetcorn you do about 50% of the time), but more profit.

Personally I plant sweetcorn on all but the falador patch where I plant watermelons (due to the fally shields extra exp).

Biggest profit is marigolds, tomatoes and snapdragons.

Do i compost the marigolds and snaps? Do i pay the farmer to watch tomatoes?

I found that unless you have the money to buy the snapdragon seeds its better to buy toadflax seeds and plant those.

Composting snapdragons would make for quite expensive supercompost.

But hey, if you can make a profit that way, who am I to object?

He meant use compost on the herb patch, and yes you should as it cuts down the death rate.

Always use supercompost. But the xp from tomatoes isn't a lot; I wouldn't bother personally. If you want cheap xp do orange trees.

Thats what I normally do, but I cant get into a rythem with those nowadays.

Ps: Tomato seed = 15 gp. Tomato = 26 gp. 14 a patch = 330 gp profit. Not really worth it though.
