nightshade53
Since the recent PvP glitch is causing some discussion, I'd better post a quick explanation. There was a bug in PvP which some players were abusing to gain high drop potential unfairly. (i.e to get money which they hadn't earned) As far as I can tell this was first discovered by a player on Easter Saturday, and how to do it became fairly widespread knowledge early on Easter Sunday. I was alerted to the problem when chatting to some players on my clan chat early on Easter Sunday morning. I immediately went into work and fixed it there and then, so it isn't happening anymore. The bug was therefore not abused for very long. It also wasn't possible to abuse the bug unless you were a member, and there was minimum level requirements, so the impact was limited by that. It also meant people couldn't abuse it on 'throwaway' accounts. To the players who were stupid enough to deliberately abuse this bug on their members accounts, all I can say is, why!?! What on earth made you think that was a good idea? You know we have in depth logs and can and do catch people who abuse major bugs. We haven't banned anyone yet, there is no massive rush as all the activity is logged anyway. On Tuesday once everyone is back from the easter break, and we have the staff to go through the logs very very carefully we'll do that then. We obviously don't want to risk banning anyone incorrectly, so it takes a bit of effort. But if you *deliberately* abused the bug (or tried to abuse it after we fixed it), you should be very very afraid. I cant imagine why anyone thought it was a good idea to try! I wonder if they'll use a scale of how bad the offence was like they did with Penguins. I know ALOT of high leveled players that abused this, including one with 190m defence xp, another with 14m slayer xp, 48m attack and 94 runecraft. It's going to take alot of GP out of the economy if they ban everyone that did it permanently. I can assume the bug is fixed now, it went like this: You summon a Beast of Burden and put the maximum cash you can in it (300k for kalphite, 600k for terrorbird and 900k for tortoise). You go to a free to play PvP world and have a friend kill you a few times. The game assumes that you have lost the cash you had in your BoB so awards you drop potential. You go to a members world and 26k trick with the drop potential that would have otherwise taken hours and hours to obtain.
blakdragon39
When I first started reading I thought it was the 25k trick, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. What was the bug? :? I don't pk so I'm not up on their news. :XD: :(

Dayking321
When I first started reading I thought it was the 25k trick, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. What was the bug? :? I don't pk so I'm not up on their news. :XD: :( There's information in the other thread. Which I've copied here [hide=Potential bug abuse (no directions, but it's touchy)][yt]7UCUf87b8BE[/yt][/hide] Anyway, I can see them doing one of three things (that said, I've been out of the loop for a while: ) 1. Bans for everyone. People who abused it get a ban, severity depending on abuse (which is what they SHOULD do) 2. Ban the people who did it in large amounts, ban people in clans, name and shame (in short, huff and puff, but do little on the people who only moderately abused it.) 3. As two, but only the people who REALLY abused it. It's likely one and two will lead to riots ("ZOMG Jagex is screwing over teh pkers!!!!!one!") - the RSOF thread has been heading in that direction. Which is... interesting. It's a shame that people opposed to cheating can't get the amount of players they'll be able to.
